Just when you. think.....

Unread post by Onelife »

....you've seen it all?

Having done my two weekly work-out at the physio department l spring heeled it back into my car and proceded down the hospital drive which takes you to a T junction. With only one car in front of me l thought this is taking far to long for them to turn onto the main road. Anyhow l waited my turn thinking it must be an old codger trying to get out...just then a hand appeared out of the drivers side window beckoning me to go round.....'poor sod has broken down l thought'....naah! It was a stupid middle aged inconsiderate cow on her bloody mobile.....foaming at the mouth and waving my arms as if to say WTF are you doing?.... she just carried on oblivious to the mayhem she was causing....just as well l'm of a placid nature as a more irate indervidual might have left her needing some physio.

Stupid cow!!

My road rage moment was just yesterday on a dual carriageway.

As I was in the outside lane in a row of mainly cars passing a stream of traffic moving slower in the inside lane, about four or five vehicles ahead a lorry pulled out and began slowly passing two others. As it cleared the first of these that also pulled out, carving up the car about to pass it and began passing the lorry ahead. As it in turn cleared the next that pulled out, again carving up the car about to pass. After five miles of this excruciating performance the three lorries were back in exactly the same order they had been before they began their shuffle.

It is claimed (possibly by lorry drivers) that lorry drivers are professionals and among the best on the road. It may be true of some, even of most. But these three were prize selfish dickheads!

I was behind a car at the junction of the road where we live and the main road, on my way to work. The woman driving the car in front was fiddling with her fringe using the interior mirror as a substitute dressing table mirror. I put up with this for several seconds (she was obviously totally oblivious to the fact that there was a car behind; well, why would she know??!!), getting more irate all the time. The crunch came when she picked up a hairbrush from the passenger seat and started a full-on hairdo.

This was the point where I linked my fingers, put my hands over the horn button and my arms as far as possible. It was worth the frustration just to see how far she jumped!

I always assume that lorry drivers suffer from locked ankle syndrome, they can't or won't take their foot off the accelerator and so move at a constant speed depending on gradient; and that's the vast majority of them IMO.

I was in a slow moving queue yesterday (but still moving, mind you) and in the space of about 15 minutes, the daft bat behind me managed to do her full make-up. Surely driving without due care at the very least. Where's Plod when you need him ?!

PLOD!.....don't make me laugh, they're useless.

Anything less than a murder or serious accident and you can forget it. And then the weather conditions have probably got to be right before they turn out

About a month or so ago I phoned them complaining about some Pratt racing up and down the main road making one hell of a din. Did plod want to know, did they hell. Instead, I was told to phone the local council as new legislation had come out where they no longer had to attend nuisance calls. Forget the fact that Johnny joy rider was probably breaking every rule of the road, but no, they weren't interested. The wa**ers.

And you can just see the council standing at the side of the road late at night with their pad, pencil and a stinger................NOT. :lolno:

Seen it many times Merv.

And there is always the one that pulls out to overtake knowing full well it's going to take him the best part of 2 miles+ to get pass the other lorry. As QB said, plod is never about then, yet if you so much as look at your phone they're dropping out the sky.

I have come to the view that HGVs should not be allowed in the outside lane on any road, whether it is two or three lanes. At present the restriction only applies on three lanes.

So sometimes one truck would get stuck behind another slower moving truck. Then they'd know how the rest of us feel. And they'd pretty soon learn to use their mirrors and pull into a lay-by to let their mates go by.

Maybe they are all too busy looking out for people committing a capital offence by smoking in the car with their kids on board to bother with anything else ?!

A reasonable priority. Of course a person smoking in a car is far more dangerous than 38 tons of metal pulling out and carving up a car at 60-70mph. I mean what could possibly go wrong?

Also, checking on smoking in cars seems to be far more of a priority than responding to a report of some thug kicking down your door in the dead of night, threatening you with a machete and running off with your worldly goods

It's not their fault. They need to sell your stuff to buy fags to smoke in the car. It's their human right

:lolno:
We had that problem a couple of years ago Stephen from a young lad on a motorbike who regularly sped up past our house at alarming speeds with such a din but the police never turned up.

We don't have that problem now and a reminder of our motorcycle terrorist is tied to a lamp post at the bottom of the road, a withered bunch of flowers marks the place where he hit a car.

I would not have wished this fate on him but as I drive past the scene I think to myself "that could have been one of my grand children crossing the road".

My biggest gripe is cyclists, especially those with helmet cameras. At one time in the department we ran a "see who you can knock down" league. :sarcasm: You used to get 7 points for knocking over a cyclist but those helmet cams have taken all the fun out of it.

Yes if it was a child you lost points!!

When we played that game it was double points if you could make them fall off without actually hitting them

One local business was offering Tripple points and 10p off a litre of petrol if you got two at once. You can't imagine my excitement when I came across two riding abreast.

The way some cyclists ride l sometimes wonder if they are on a 'Let's see who can get knocked off first ' routine.

Maybe yes maybe no, but the man most to blame is Sir Gary Verity for making the Grand Depart in Yorkshire such a huge success.
Since then the numbers of mindless morons in lycra on bikes has gone through the roof, you can no longer go on a peaceful saunter through the countryside in your car without having to have eyes in the back of your head and taking constant action to avoid knocking the barmy blighters off.
