I met KenMo1
What a nice coincidence. Having a cup of coffee and doing some serious ship watching across the Solent while 'earwigging' a nearby conversation about cruising on a nearby table, ( I always was a nosy so and so!
} I made some comment back and started a conversation about various topics including cruising, when suddenly this lovely and charming lady says "Are you Frank Manning?". It was Maureen and Ken and their friends. Fantastic. So nice to meet them, and we really hope that we meet again. Maureen even got Sue to say that we might cruise again "If HE gets all his jobs done!"
Really made our day....our Wedding Anniversary today as well.

You beat me to it, Frank. It was lovely to meet you and Sue today - a really nice surprise. I see the thread has gone down hill since you started it.Frank Manning wrote:What a nice coincidence. Congratulations on your wedding anniversary. Don't forget to get on with all those jobs that Sue has lined up for you.
Hope we meet again.
Maureen and Ken (and Dave and Joan).

"Lovely and charming"
That would be my description too, Frank.
We had the pleasure of sharing a table with Ken & Maureen a few years ago. A lovely couple.

What a lovely way to meet a fellow cc'er, I think you can be forgiven for 'earwigging'
I'm curious though, how did Maureen put two and two together to know who you were.
Mind you .. I'm sure many will remember Aurorabore from the old forum .. I had known her for years from doing the same Christmas cruises and yet I never made the connection she was someone on the forum

Re: I met KenMo1
Hi Jo - I can answer that question. When we started talking to Frank we asked him if he was on holiday or if he lived on the Island. He said he used to live in Cowes but now lived in Poole and our friend, who also grew up in Cowes, had a long conversation with Frank about Poole as they used to have a caravan there. The conversation also covered cruising and also working on ships. When he called his wife Sue, I started to put 2 and 2 together. It could have easily added up to 5 and I could have been very wrong but I just thought I would risk asking him if he was Frank. I would have been very embarrassed if he had said no and then I would have had to explain myself. Luckily, he said yes and it was a lovely surprise as well as being a relief that I hadn't made a complete fool of myself.Dancing Queen wrote:I'm curious though, how did Maureen put two and two together to know who you were.
Perhaps in a second life I could become a detective.

Miss Marple, naah, I bet he was wearing his plaque, the one that says ...
" Hi my name is Frank Manning, if I look lost please take me to the nearest Police Station "

No, MOB, the plaque around his neck didn't quite say that but I won't tell you what it said - I would hate to embarrass him.Manoverboard wrote:Miss Marple, naah, I bet he was wearing his plaque, the one that says ...

Please, please, please don't tell me he was having one of his 'so Moneymarket' moments.
Maureen, you can now count yourself in as one of the lucky few CCers to have met Frank and his delightful wife Sue. We were even luckier as we shared a dining table with them. Just saying..........

Yes and she has had 52 years and one day experience of doing it. Trouble is she sometimes does it with a cattle prod, it is quite an electrifying experience!oldbluefox wrote:See what I mean.
