I don't know, but perhaps the point Poole Boy was trying to make is that, while bags were free, the was no problem to carrying "branded ones" and giving the public free advertising, but now we have to pay for them, we're also paying for their advertising? Just hazarding a guess and trying diffuse a sticky situation....

And will their protests make any difference? Which supermarket will be first to ditch the chance of free advertising. The only real way to make the point is to take your Aldi bags when you go shopping in Sainsburys.

I do that already - take my Sainsbury's branded cool bag to Waitrose most days - and no one takes a scrap of notice

We take our motley collection of hessian bags everywhere and don't care what anyone else does. Does that work as a plan B? If not we're stuffed.

no - you can opt out and have 'zero bags'. The nice delivery person carries the shopping into your kitchen and helps you unpack it from the crate.

We've just returned unscathed from a shopping trip to Glasgow (just checking to see what they are all up to!) and it was no problem. I can't understand what all the fuss is about. We took our own bags and put our purchases in them. Simple!!!

when we go food shopping we take the trolley to the car no bags needed and when we were in town yesterday my wife had her own plain bag which ended up full but it was worth it to see the looks on the faces of the staff when we refused there offers of bags

.... and how ridiculous is that.

We shop every 6 - 8 weeks and order up to £300's worth of items, the poor sod would be unpacking it for ages if we opted NOT to have the bags. Sainsbugs allow him an extra 5 minutes at the drop.

We couldn't be so mean to our nice delivery man / lady / person.
