Back on topic.

The countdown to Christmas actually starts next Sunday, Advent Sunday.

Today, the Sunday before that, is traditionally known as, stir up Sunday, and is when we should all make our puddings and cakes, if we do so.

3 of each now cooling, BUT, I was far more organised and made them much earlier when I was working, even as a person who, 'did not complete a full time education in the world of teaching,'   As if!

Just seen somewhere else, and I have cleaned this up:

There are twelve days of Christmas, and none of them are in November.

I know, poor old thing, but I daren't say too much or she'll doubtless have a strop ...

Might be tactful if you got hold of the tv guide first each week and then highlight the Christmas movies - I seem to remember that several of the Freeview channels show pretty-much back-to-back Christmas films from late October onwards (presumably so people can record them in case Christmas appears before everyone is heartily sick of the whole thing?!)

I know, it's bloody ridiculous. Back at the start of October, they were flogging mince pies with a "best before" date of sometime in November. They're for CHRISTMAS for God's sake !!!

Christmas for us started Monday when we booked a Christmas and New Year cruise on the Oceana. Today we have been out buying our Christmas t-shirts and sweaters and, for the first time in many years, I have started to feel excited about Christmas.

Bring it on.

Good girl ! Isn't she doing the Canaries this year ? If I remember correctly it's exactly the same itinerary that we did on Aurora last year. You'll love it.

Yes, it is the Canaries and Madeira for the fireworks on New Year's Eve which I understand are fantastic. Just been studying the weather at that time of year and it looks like the evenings can be a bit cool. Having read the Foreign Office advice for Agadir, we might stay on the ship that day.

Just got to find Ken a Christmassy bow tie to wear for Christmas Day Dinner - couldn't find one today. He drew the line at buying a funny hat with antlers on it.

If the leaves are still on the trees it's not Christmas.

my JD is flying to Patagonia for 3 weeks on Sunday - arriving home on the Sunday before Christmas.
Her twitter feed has a photo of a fully decorated Christmas tree.... but the comment:
Christmas? Ready! But I refuse to switch the lights on till I'm back from holiday!!

We went to Chatsworth House on Tuesday to see their Christmas decorations. They were absolutely magnificent but I think I'm going to have to re-think my Christmas decorations now. They were truly amazing.

Been in Madeira for the fireworks the past 2 years and I know you will be impressed. Maybe we've been lucky but the weather has been perfect and the ladies have been up on deck at midnight in their finery with little or no extra protection !!

I confess I was not over-impressed with Agadir so a day on board would be my choice anyway. In view of the current situation, I wonder whether they may arrange an alternative call.

Good luck with the glitzy tie !

Have a great time Jo - this is my first Christmas cruise and I've been trying dresses on and making a list of what to take - only problem is it being a fly cruise so weight restrictions. Getting a wee bit excited now and so is the family - my granddaughters can't wait. Will be catching up with my cruise buddy Jenni and husband Steve too :D

You'll love it on board at Christmas, Blod, especially with the girls. This year will be our 7th (I think) and I can't imagine staying at home now. Enjoy. Do we share any ports of call ?

Which ship are you on Cubie? I am on Britannia in the Caribbean departing 19 December - 14 nights.

Arcadia. I think we're going the other way round - we are in Antigua on 28/12 and you are there on the 29th, Tortola on 29/12 and you are there on 27th then St Maarten on 20/12 and you on 28th. We are both in Barbados on New Years Day but I suppose that is your disembarkation day. Enjoy it anyway
