But that's where we've been for the past week!!Mervyn and Trish wrote:I'd wait for the floods to subside before you risk coming down from the attic Foxy.oldbluefox wrote:Looks like I'll have to get our decorations down from the attic.
Actually we are fine unlike the poor souls who have been flooded out again in Glenridding. Today there's a Food Fair on in Cockermouth and it's cold and raining. Such a shame. Meanwhile a bridge near Braithwaite was washed away and Ivy House and the little shop were flooded along with other houses. It's not just the major towns. Lots of little villages were affected and some farms are totally cut off.It must be very difficult for them to feel much by way of Festive cheer.
I was taught to be cautious

It's not great anytime. I can think of little worse than a flood, other than perhaps a fire. But it must feel even worse when everyone is in festive mood and especially when it seems never ending.

Speaking of Scrooge - anyone know if P&O are still grumbling about decorating the outside of cabin doors. We were given a load of old "health & safety" guff about it on Aurora last year !

It's not entirely guff ol chap .... did you know that some poor souls have to count their way along the corridors by touch alone and that the actions of a Christmas Numpty ( aka Cubie ) could cause such disadvantaged souls injury due to a lack of awareness / consideration / understanding.

Yes, I did know that, but said poor souls are hardly going to grope the doors as there are Braille markers for each cabin with the individual numbers on the "letterbox" holders.Manoverboard wrote:It's not entirely guff ol chap .... did you know that some poor souls have to count their way along the corridors by touch alone and that the actions of a Christmas Numpty ( aka Cubie ) could cause such disadvantaged souls injury due to a lack of awareness / consideration / understanding.

On Christmas cruises, there have been over 50% of doors decorated which really brightens up the corridors - and makes it easier to find yours after a particularly heavy night ! Let's see if they have a clamp-down this year.Stephen wrote:We saw one cabin door with decorations on it.

Quite right. After all, you go away on a cruise to get away from all that sort of stuff.qbman1 wrote:On Christmas cruises, there have been over 50% of doors decorated which really brightens up the corridors - and makes it easier to find yours after a particularly heavy night ! No, amongst other things, I go to get away from all the nonsense of getting enough food in to feed half of Ethiopia and more chocolate than Willy Wonka ever dreamed of, "just in case someone calls round"

Yes and after the last party cruise - the drunks had changed all the letterboxes so no-one knew where they were going lol!qbman1 wrote:Yes, I did know that, but said poor souls are hardly going to grope the doors as there are Braille markers for each cabin with the individual numbers on the "letterbox" holders.Manoverboard wrote:It's not entirely guff ol chap .... did you know that some poor souls have to count their way along the corridors by touch alone and that the actions of a Christmas Numpty ( aka Cubie ) could cause such disadvantaged souls injury due to a lack of awareness / consideration / understanding.

Really ... so you genuinely believe that they can all locate the letterbox holders every single time without touching a door ?qbman1 wrote:Yes, I did know that, but said poor souls are hardly going to grope the doors as there are Braille markers for each cabin with the individual numbers on the "letterbox" holders.Manoverboard wrote:It's not entirely guff ol chap .... did you know that some poor souls have to count their way along the corridors by touch alone and that the actions of a Christmas Numpty ( aka Cubie ) could cause such disadvantaged souls injury due to a lack of awareness / consideration / understanding.
My mate Jim can't so his wife fitted a tied ribbon on their cabin door for him to locate but the bloody steward removed it ... perhaps it was because it was August
When you are on your pending cruise go up to the Crow's Nest, put on a pair of blindfolds, turn round four times and then find your way to your cabin ...
ps ... and don't forget to hang prickly holly on your door for maximum effect.

Christmas....PAH.
Just been wrapping a couple of presents. A bl**dy nightmare, I hate it. Never buy clothing, always buy something with square corners...... like a brick, much easier.

Just finished wrapping our pressies yesterday, I have to say I much prefer the slightly plasticised wrapping paper, don't get any torn corners with it.
