No Snow Here
Looking at the news it looks like some regions have had snow overnight but no sign of it here have you had any ?, I phoned my brother and he has snow but he lives on the other side of the motorway which is only five miles as the crow flies away but in Derbyshire.

Re: No Snow Here
Looking at the picture from the church's outside security camera last night, we thought it was snowing here but thankfully it wasn't. I'm not impressed with the forecast of temperatures reaching negative double-digits though

Nothing here, but living just two fields from the sea, we rarely get any anyway.

No snow here in Leicestershire either. I expect there will be some back home in Cumbria.
I was taught to be cautious

Re: No Snow Here
None here near Southampton - lovely sunny morning. We rarely get snow (will probably regret saying that) but on occasions we find that our village which is about 2 miles from the sea doesn't have any snow but Winchester - not that far away does. The last really heavy snow we had was the winter of 2009-10.

Some on the highest hills here but nothing much below 1000ft.
I saw one of those panic reports in the paper today. We're expecting the lowest temperatures since a) records began? b) 1947? c)1963?
No none of the above. Since 2012!

Re: No Snow Here
The picture that Stephen posted up reminds me of a friend of mine who lives in Canada, in summer he drives farm machinery but in winter he drives a snow plough. On streets where there is on street parking they have a system where on odd days you park on the right and on even days you park on the left to allow the snow plough to clear the roads. One particular day someone must have got their days mixed up and parked on the wrong side, Jim came along in his plough and picked up a sports car that was buried under the snow and threw it over a low wall.
They can have drifts 15ft high or more and the roads are clear by mid morning but we have 2 inches and the country is at a standstill.

I have been in Toronto when a snowfall caused no end of chaos.Raybosailor wrote:The picture that Stephen posted up reminds me of a friend of mine who lives in Canada, in summer he drives farm machinery but in winter he drives a snow plough. Re: No Snow Here
In the big cities there is nowhere to throw the snow so it can cause problems, the railway station is underground and the tracks out of Toronto run underground for quite some distance so it is easier to keep the railway running. Have you been in the underground shopping precinct Bob it is quite impressive, there was even a funfair down there last time we went.Quizzical Bob wrote:I have been in Toronto when a snowfall caused no end of chaos.Raybosailor wrote:The picture that Stephen posted up reminds me of a friend of mine who lives in Canada, in summer he drives farm machinery but in winter he drives a snow plough. Not been there for a while but I went twelve times in three years in the early 1980s. I expect it's been pulled down and rebuilt twice since then.Raybosailor wrote:In the big cities there is nowhere to throw the snow so it can cause problems, the railway station is underground and the tracks out of Toronto run underground for quite some distance so it is easier to keep the railway running. Any chance of Huddersfield getting completely buried, or is that just a false hope?Romig1 wrote:Started snowing in deepest darkest Huddersfield about an hour ago. No sign of it stopping yet.
