Hi Graham,

No 'saddo' is a word which simply does not apply to you.

We keep appointments diaries - one for me and one for himself - it is just the sensible thing to do.

However, when I am on a cruise I do quickly extend my time on the laptop to add to a word document diary to remind me of what we have done that day and where we have been. I'd be on my laptop anyway doing emails and sorting out accounts - so a couple of minutes more is neither here nor there really. It's not that we would forget during the cruise where we have been or done etc., it's in ten years time for instance that the word document would be nice.

The other thing we do is download photos each day, and that way they are easily matched up with the word doc diary.

Cheers - Em x :D

Dear Graham of the huge member,

I keep a pocket diary for work, social and sporting engagements but not a "Dear Diary" diary. When on holiday I keep a cruise journal which Mrs and Miss AOTH do think is amusing.

Never thought of what Mr Dog? Keeping a diary or never thought of the Giant as a saddo?

A I reach the ripe old age of 50 I would be lost without a diary....and I think the Giant is more a Happyo than a Saddo.

A planner with columns for each family member for engagements, reminders and events, Mr. Giant, but never thoughts. :lolno: Those are, IMO, best scribed elsewhere for posterity. Who knows, they may even make our descendants some money some day from my scribblings.

I have been much ridiculed, elsewhere, for daring to say that I keep a journal of our cruises BUT, heaven forbid that technology deletes the lot one day!!! Then, when all the cruise reviews and photos are no longer accessible, I shall be the last one laughing!!!!!!!!

I don't use a diary but I keep all appointments/events online with suitable and timely reminders.
That means as soon as I log on to any computer anywhere I have access to my diary ... not that I ever forget anything .. apart from our anniversary and Julies birthday

We have a planner for appointments, social engagements etc. i used to always keep a journal when on a cruise, but nowadays, I only seem to do that if we do a particularly "special" cruise.

Many years ago, I used to write my daily thoughts, pages and pages of them, but babies came along and I didn't always have time, so lost the habit, which saddens me.

A work colleague is really into the social media scene. Apparently if he stops anywhere for more than 20 minutes his phone rings, tells him exactly where he is (often including the ship/restaurant name) and asks if he wants to tweet his location ... I am sure rest of the world felt that they were missing out by not knowing. :wtf:

We have a Diary, Social Planner or whatever you want to call it.

We call it the fridge/freezer, each note being carefully attached with one of our holiday fridge magnets. :D

Use to have a desk diary before retirement, the only thing these days in my wife's diary, is a list of names & addresses family/friends.

Have never kept a journal of a cruise, but normally keep all the bits and pieces of paperwork associated with the cruise, until we fed up with it, and have a clear out. :D ;)

Hi Delboy,

The only reason that I do the daily diary thing on a cruise is that when sorting out stuff from bereavements I have been left with loads of photos - and with nothing written on the back to say who it is or when or where it is more often than not it becomes just 'rubbish'. I have had to adopt the very strict ruling that with this sort of stuff if I can't work out what the photo is all about then out it goes - otherwise we'd be drowning in that sort of stuff.

So, up until now in recent times we have come back from a cruise and we've done a photobook (Tesco sort of thing), and then we put with it a disc which has all the squillions of shots from that particular cruise and also a the word document diary - and also the print out of the diary. That way, when it is time for all our junk to get sorted out at least there will be information and maybe just maybe some of the stuff might be kept.

I know it's not for everyone, but towards the end of each day we like to just mellow down and record the nice things we've done or seen on a cruise.

The other thing then - me being me - is that when we repeat a cruise we can look back at the previous one with a similar itinerary and see if we notice any changes or improvements.

Look on the bright side - keeps me out of everyone else's way!

Em :D

We both keep an engagements diary - trouble is a certain someone doesn't always tell me when he puts something new in his diary - and incidentally doesn't always put things in his own diary. He asked someone for the day next Saturday and just a few minutes ago said he has just realised he was supposed to be doing a Rotary thing next Saturday - hopeless!

However, I am another one, I won't say "sad one" because I don't think it is, who keeps a Cruise Diary for every cruise - I have done it ever since we started crusing in 2003. I enjoy doing it and occasionally it can come in useful - for example yesterday John asked me which Caribbean Island was it where he had a haircut but a man with long dreadlocks in a hairdressers that didn't have any running water and a rooster wandering in the back door! I was able to tell him it was St. Maarten! Truthfully - but it was an excellent haircut done entirely with clippers and no small talk and cost I think 5$. It can also be useful for remembering people's names.
