Sex robots

Unread post by Silver_Shiney »

My SIL, as part of his PhD in robotics, has been tasked with writing software for these machines. Looking at a video of one last night, which showed a cut-away model revealing all the incredible gadgetry inside, they are externally (and to a degree, internally  ) anatomically accurate. While I appreciate that these things pose an exciting challenge for mechanical and software engineers, I can't help but feel a bit sick that someone has seen fit to create them in the first place. It doesn't look like there's a "male" version, although I would be incredulous if a woman would let one of these things near her.

Personally, I think it's very distasteful and morally very dubious. What do you think?

I suppose it brings a new meaning to "turning your partner on"...

I can just see it now - "computer says no"

I think it would be fun for the software engineer to program in a simulated one!

Pass that on to your SiL - should make all the difference to his PhD. I don't want any credit - just a share of the royalties !!

Already have! Had to laugh at that video, though - printed on the inside "thigh" was an arrow pointing to the way "in"....

Hi Mr Shiney......It dose make you wonder what kind of person would consider buying one of these sex dolls....l don't suppose you know how much and where they can be purchased from do you? :o

What l find more distressing and potentially more harmful is the way sexual encounters are portrayed on TV these days. Children are being bombarded with total inappropriate viewing in my opinion which leaves them with misguided views of how proper sexual relationships are formed.

Anyway must dash Cindy needs blowing up.

Keith

Keith, apparently you can get "really well equipped" models for 40k - don't know if that's GBP or USD and "is really cheap for the tech involved". I'm told one company sold 1800 last year. The YouTube video gives the impression that they're mainly developed and built in Japan. The "faces" are frighteningly realistic. The technology of the frame is amazing - fully articulated spine and rib cage for a start. They showed one dancing - were it not for the metal pole sticking out of its "chest", you'd have thought it was a human.

SIL also says that there ARE "male" versions

Quite agree with the way sex is portrayed on TV. Dexter was bad enough but Game of Thrones was way too explicit for me - I suddenly realised I was watching pornography after a few episodes of Season 1 and haven't watched it since.

I believe there are places in the world you can get a fully equipped real human bride for less than that. Or so I've heard

Hi Mr Shiney...at that price l think l'll stick with Cindy

I've watched all of the Game of Thrones series and like you felt some of the sex scenes were over explicit, unnecessary and at times out of context with the story lines.....that being said the series as a whole has been enjoyable

I think the sex industry is always looking for ways to meet the needs of those with peculiarly sexual appetites and l dread to think what they will come up with next. I suppose it all boils down to the fact that 'sex sells' which means there's always going to be a market for those willing to pay for something different.

Must dash Cindy is looking a little deflated :)

Alan can you get your SIL to reeboot my missus, 40k might seem expensive but the money our Gert has spent in the last 46 years I could have bought the whole factory.

One more question, do they do a good Sunday roast ?
