I was waving my flag madly on Oceana, but never got a look in!

After watching the car park and baggage chaos and the rain, I am happy that we chose to pass on any grand event sailing.

I was pleased we sailed from Ocean Terminal as it did look a bit chaotic at the Rose Bowl, the weather wasn't good but it didn't spoil the atmosphere at all .... I wouldn't have missed it for anything

Apart from a few grumbles about the car park organisation (which I don't think spoilt people's overall experiences) I didn't read of many complaints on the forum about the GE cruises which were well-received by almost all that went on them. Indeed I think just about everyone I spoke to (or read of) was extremely happy that they had shared such a special occasion.

The main problems seemed to be reported by those people on those preceding cruises who had to be taken to the Rose Bowl for their luggage. There were some shortages of taxis as I recall, and it must have been frustrating to then have to be taken back down to the docks to collect vehicles, for those who used CPS or city hotels for parking. These people didn't have a GE cruise to "compensate" for their inconvenience unfortunately.

For us it was very interesting to see some shots of insides of ships which we may never get to sail on.

Certainly the view of the ships going out to sea in procession looked awesome - but I couldn't understand firstly why the special cake wasn't created onboard, and secondly they went on and on about it (I've seen bigger wedding cakes) - and it was nowhere near as big as the cake done for the Diamond Jubilee on QV.

We always enjoy watching the 'working' ships and boats in any port - but it was interesting to watch the cars being loaded and to see the storage facilities for them both on dry land and onboard.

Looking forward to the next one in the series.

I read quite a few negative reports at the time but mainly from cynics like me who thought it was over hyped for a half day of soggy festivities, especially as most of these cruises sold at much higher prices than equivalent cruises at other times. However I am sure lots of passengers enjoyed it although it would not have been my cup of tea.

I know what you mean about 'negativity', towny44 - we did the Royal Rendezvous and people were negative and said it couldn't have been that good because of the weather etc. Well, we enjoyed it - Southampton weather and all.

At the time many people were disappointed about the fireworks etc - but we have bought a picture of the scene at night with the ships and the fireworks and the (very naughty) weather - and it looks really romantic and lovely.

One thing I really enjoyed seeing on this program last night was the shots of the people onboard with streamers and flags and having a ruddling grand time - that was lovely to see.

Was on Azura for the GE and had a great time, as for Sea City they spent far to much time on the cake and why did they show what was a one off at the rose bowl when there was so much to film at the Port.

I thought it was an interesting programme, my husband wants that job of driving all the different cars on to the ships ! The procession of all the ships going out was impressive, wished I had been there.

Methinks that was some "creative" editing when it was showing the ships sailing out of Southampton as it appeared to be a reasonably clear day when in fact there was fairly poor visibility which caused the Red Arrows fly past to be cancelled

I have previously watched this programme when it was first broadcast, through a link somebody sent me.

Thoroughly enjoyed the programme then and will watch it again, now I have it on BBC IPlayer.

Was not on one of the 7 ships, but did spend the day in Southampton, followed by a party in the evening, watching the 7 ships, sailing past in the Solent.

It was tipping down all day. I was supposed to be on the Red Funnel trip but instead spent the day in Southampton General having a heart attack.

We did the "Royal rendezvous", the weather was dreadful & of course we sailed at night in the dark. Bad luck all round really who would have thought both events would have such bad weather?

Which Queen were you on? We were out on our balcony singing and flag waving until both the other ships had passed by - and then we decided to go indoors and get dry.

Well they kept me in and gave me a few bypasses but I daren't look too closely. We've been on a couple of cruises since so it won't stop us enjoying ourselves. At least that problem has been fixed but you never know what else is lurking. The only real change is travel insurance. I eventually found annual multi-trip worldwide insurance with Staysure for just over £400. The motto now is 'live for today'.
