Simples - the Jocks don't like the English. Never have and never will.

It's mutual, I hasten to add !

Despite what Mrs Krankie said I think this was inevitable anyway and will be repeated until such time as the desired effect was achieved. Brexit will just provide the excuse to return to the Scottish electorate.
Now I thought Ian meant another EU referendum, but thinking deeper maybe a no vote could result in both another Scottish and EU referendum.

Just to put something in the mix. A few of the comments around this issue are that people dont want to be ruled by the unelected, how things change. This was the exact issue when Scotland said they didn't want to be ruled by the unelected government in London, the people of Scotland made this clear but nothing changed.

But I thought the people of Scotland voted to stay as part of the UK? It's maybe just as well since much was heralded about wealth from the oilfields prior to the collapse in the price of oil.
They did indeed, sir. I remember some 40 years ago my Scottish aunt banging on about "our" oil, so no change in separatist views there even though the fields were, and still are, in British waters. Anyway, regardless of their location, are the companies doing the drilling Scottish? I suspect not.

Don't forget, though, that many Cabinet members hail(ed) from north of Hadrian's brickworks, who would be influencing Government policy, so while some Scots whinge about being affected by policies made in London, the rest of the "U"K is affected by policies influenced by some Scots. It works both ways...

Spot on

Didn't Shrek promise and assure everyone that that referendum was strictly a one-off and would not be repeated? Oh, wait, he's a politician and politicians can always be trusted.... :sarcasm:

Same here, Jan. We have booked a cruise for the end of May into June as we feel things will have reached a peak by then - either that or we will have gone totally loopy with all of it.

That's not my experience but it may be true of a partisan groups in each camp. Then again we northerners tend to be a Heinz mix, with Scottish Welsh and Irish antecedents, perhaps that's why we are generally such a friendly lot :D

So we have a choice ... we either align ourselves with David Cameron or we align ourselves with Nigel Farage :)

Sure we all know about democracy in Europe we have seen it played out in Ireland, Denmark and other countries. You have a totally free vote but if Europe does not like the answer then they will keep providing referendums until we vote the correct way.

Ken,
That sounds very similar to Boris and Michael Howard's view of the situation, but not Dave's, and just as long as he remains PM he maintains this will be a one off vote.

Incidentally Merv we still have 5 voters from the original poll still to cast their votes, and its currently looking to be unchanged from the first.

Given that it's most likely in her interest to get out of the EU, I wonder what her motive is?

Quite simply she expects an 'out' vote, and wants Scotland to vote the other way to the rest of the UK so that she has the excuse to call another referendum on independence. She knows she'll never be much in a big pond - so wants to be a big fish in a small pond.
