So if we were to leave, what would Scotland do?
What about Northern Ireland, would they want to stay with England across the sea when they have a land boarder with an EU country?
What would Argentina do about the Falklands?
What would Spain do about Gibraltar?

Scotland = another vote re independence ?
Northern Ireland = would stick with England
The Falklands and Gibraltar would remain as is because these are Crown rather than EU issues.

Can't understand why some Scots have a problem with rule from Westminster where they are democratically represented (in fact per head over represented) but don't mind being ruled by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. Perverse.

They are represented in Brussels, just as they are represented in Westminster. Why do you seem to think that we have no influence in Brussels? It's just as democratic as Westminster.

Even in the European Parliament Scotland's representation is miniscule compared to Westminster.

It has 6 out of 751 MEPs, 59 out of 650 MPs.

They are represented in Brussels, just as they are represented in Westminster. Why do you seem to think that we have no influence in Brussels? It's just as democratic as Westminster.

QB, the majority of issues over which we would want to exercise influence relate to the move towards closer political union, or propping up the Euro. Unfortunately we will always be outvoted on these issues.
As far as trading decisions are concerned we will happily take these on board, just as we do now, even if we are outside the EU.
Even if, in your worst case scenario, we have to pay the same entry fee to trade with the EU as we do now, it will be worth it to be free of the shackles of EU bureaucracy on most other things that they currently legislate about.

Interestingly on the news this morning there was a chap who sold smoked salmon. He had to change all of his packaging to include, on the back of eack package the words 'contains fish'. Who, and how many are we paying in the EU to dream up these diktats?
It appears that the decision to stay or leave in the business world is very much a personal one based on whether the business gains or loses as a consequence of our membership. Businesses seem very split on the issue although we should bear in mind that trade is a very small part of belonging to the EU. Other areas of the EU, particularly surrounding the surrender of our sovereign rights are equally, if not more important. I can see no benefit, which we could not handle ourselves, from staying.

As an aside how many could name their own MEP? How many could name any British MEPs apart from Nigel Farage? Does that not tell you something?

I'm still amazed, given the coverage of late, that many younger people are still not that aware of the whole thing.
I was chatting to two young men recently, one about 28 and the other 25.
When I mentioned the referendum, they looked a bit perplexed and said that they've never really given it much thought.
"don't you watch the news?" I asked.
"not really" they replied. "so what's it all about?"

So, I explained as best as I could, and they both said that they weren't really interested.
