It's interesting, but as a MASSIVE Simon and Garfunkel fan, their version is my favourite.

I love Simon and Garfunkal too.GillD46 wrote:It's interesting, but as a MASSIVE Simon and Garfunkel fan, their version is my favourite.
But this version is so powerful and gets under my skin.
IMO they are too different to compare.

l would agree Sue, l have heard some of our greatest songs trashed by terrible cover versions but l'm sure Simon and Garfunkal would be the first to applaud this cover.

Paul Simon has heard Disturbed‘s cover of his Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound of Silence” — and he enjoyed it enough to reach out to singer David Draiman and tell him so.cd
Draiman shared word of his interaction with Simon after the band delivered a performance of “The Sound of Silence” during its March 28 appearance on Conan. Simon saw the show and sent Draiman an email shortly after, saying, “Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I’d seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks.” Understandably enthused by Simon’s encouragement, Draiman posted a screenshot of the email on the band’s Facebook page, as well as his response.
“Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words,” wrote Draiman. “We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/ us and we are eternally grateful.”
Not content to reach out privately, Simon signed off on a post through his own social media accounts, directing fans to footage of the Conan performance (which you can check out above) and calling it a “wonderful rendition.”
In case you missed it, Disturbed did a wonderful rendition of “The Sound of Silence” on Conan this week. The S&G cover…

The studio version of Disturbed’s “The Sound of Silence” cover appears on the band’s most recent release, Immortalized, which debuted at No. 1 in the U.S. upon arrival in stores last August. The album marks Disturbed’s fifth consecutive chart-topping debut.
