Unexpectedly roped into judging the flowers and veg at a Spring Show at the weekend. It's a minefield and I am now waiting for the hate mail and death threats to arrive !

I displayed at our local fruit & veg show at the weekend and to say one of the judges was "crap", well he couldn't tell a spring onion from a stick of rubarb, next time he judges perhaps he should pay a visit to spec savers first.

It's what you displayed that was probably the problem.

It was the limp, mis-shapen stick of rhubarb that caused all the troubleStephen wrote:Onelife wrote:I displayed at our local fruit & veg show at the weekend and to say one of the judges was "cr*p", well he couldn't tell a spring onion from a stick of rubarb, next time he judges perhaps he should pay a visit to spec savers first.

There's a new operation available on the NHS you could try. It's predominantly aimed at all-female couples. It's called a strapadicktomeStephen wrote:It'll be a while yet before I get up to any of that malarkey......unfortunately

Been trying to rabbit-proof the allotments this weekend. Chicken wire is dangerous stuff - should carry a health warning. My hands and arms look like I have been self-harming !

Re: The Children's Off Topic Thread
Pussy update:
Back to the vet for a check-up last night and his ear infection seems to have cleared up. He has had no fits for 2 weeks and is almost back to normal (whatever that is for a cat !!). They are keeping him on the daily steroids and anti-epilepsy medication but otherwise he is cleared to resume terrorising the neighbours' dogs !
He has to have a blood test in a few weeks to check all is well but for now......we have our pussy back !

Re: The Children's Off Topic Thread
After spending at least three weekends and several pints of blood making sure the allotments are rabbit-proof, I caught two pheasants in the act of merrily chomping away on our crops this morning !

Buy a gun Cubie. At least then you could enjoy a varied diet of wild animals with your veg.
