Foxy!! You are strangely quiet! Are you laying in a darkened room with a cold compress on your head being tended by your lovely wife?

Re: Football thread 2015/2016
I have just discovered I am a West Brom supporter.
Nearly there. The fat lady is gargling in what has been an unbelievable season. Now I just want us to win it.
Win it for every single one of us that's been there through thick and thin (and sometimes even thinner).
Win it for our long suffering partners who've put up with us on a Saturday night when we've lost, again.
Win it for Claudio, a man written off before a ball was kicked and was favourite to be the first managerial casualty even before a ball had been kicked. Throughout he has been a real gentleman and a breath of fresh air.
Win it for those who wrote us off at the beginning of the season as relegation favourites.
Win it for all the little clubs and their supporters, who rely on hard work and endeavour over and above a fat wallet. And all the young kids who support their local team rather than jumping on the big clubs' bandwagon. Wear your shirt with pride.
And win it for yourselves. You deserve it. Because you've done it in the words of Claudio: "with all your heart, with all your soul". .......
And finally win it for my brother, a longtime season ticket holder even when restricted to a wheelchair who lost his battle against brain cancer at Christmas.
We're nearly there............

Hi OBF.....Other than when England play l don't really follow football hence the reason l couldn't care less who wins the Premiership....However, having just read your thoughtful words it dose bring it home to me about what it must feel like to be a supporter of a team which are about to win the premiership...bit like getting 4 gee gees up in a lucky 15....l would imagine?
Go foxy!!

Re: Football thread 2015/2016
The wheels seem to have come off for the Gillls, and at the wrong time of the season.
After being in the top four since August, we've now dropped to seventh and out of the playoffs.
A terrible run of bad luck, from key injuries to just not getting the rub of the green.
Our last two home games, we've absolutely murdered the opposition and somehow managed to lose them both.
So, now the pressure is off and we are chasers. Maybe that will loosen them up a bit.
Two games left against 2nd & 3rd in the league so it's really sh*t or bust.
Whatever the outcome, we've had an enjoyable season and if I'm honest, Gills are miles away from a good Championship team, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise if we stay down.
Season Ticket already purchased for next season.
Bring it on

Just in case you're interested, Banbury scraped a 1-0 win with a late goal and are through to face Taunton Town in the final at home on Mondayqbman1 wrote:Anyways, going right down market - good luck to my home-town team Banbury United who are at home to Winchester City tonight in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South & West play-offs

Far be it for me to crow
Six goal thriller at the King Power this afternoon, if you are a Foxes fan.
Not sure whether to sing 'We are top of the league' or 'We are staying up'.
I'll enjoy it while I can.
Do you remember that one, obf.? The first green (or maybe blue) shoots of hope.
As can be seen by my total lack of contribution to this and previous, similar threads, I now have very little interest in the game, apart from keeping an eye on the team of my boyhood at Brunton Park, who were also once top of the 1st Division as it was then. Having said that, however, the achievement of this other little team who play in blue and have a fox as a mascot has not escaped my notice and, for all the reasons you list, I am delighted for you and your fellow long-term supporters. Ideally, I would have liked all the team to be at least British, if not actually all from Leicester but I suppose you can't have everything.
Wouldn't it just be the icing on the cake if you could win it by beating MU at Old Trafford? Even I might watch the highlights!

Well done Banbury. Incidentally we had lunch at the Crown and Tuns pie pub in Deddington a week or so ago. Great if you are up for pies, but the Scampi Sue had was not special.qbman1 wrote:Just in case you're interested, Banbury scraped a 1-0 win with a late goal and are through to face Taunton Town in the final at home on Mondayqbman1 wrote:Anyways, going right down market - good luck to my home-town team Banbury United who are at home to Winchester City tonight in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South & West play-offs

Amuses me to see how our doubters are now changing their tune..........................
As for Claudio you couldn't wish it to happen to a nicer chap. Some of his interviews are pure class - dilly ding, dilly dong!!! (YouTube it if you don't know what I mean)
Hopefully this season will see the end of possession football as we know it and the evolution of fast, flowing football. Why, even Roy is taking it onboard.

Not before time, I agree. Some of this passing right and left across the back four endlessly, drives me mad when I am watching England.oldbluefox wrote:Amuses me to see how our doubters are now changing their tune..........................![]()

Re: Football thread 2015/2016
Reports are coming through that Everton supporters are offering their tickets in the away end to City supporters unable to get one, this being the final home match of the season when possibly the Premier League trophy will be presented (if we win it!!!).
You hear so much negative press about football and its supporters but this act of generosity should not go unmentioned. What an incredibly kind thing to do. No chance I will get a ticket but I'll be glued to the TV and the radio until we are mathematically there.

Re: Football thread 2015/2016
Some nice people in Liverpool, OBF. We were there two weeks ago and impressed by how friendly everyone was. Surprise surprise lots of ladies out with young children engaging their children in conversation and without a mobile phone glued to their ear or twitchy fingers sending texts. Cant say that about this area. Will you go down to Leicester for the victory parade?

Re: Football thread 2015/2016
If we make it I may well go down. In the past we have so often been nearly men so I cringe to see the antics of those who are parading around as if we're already there. Still a chance to get egg on their faces. However this is such a big event for the underdogs it would be nice to get a little share of the action. This may never happen again in my lifetime.
It's nerve wracking being so close but so far away, Frank.

Now you know how I felt when Luton were trying to get back into the Football League. I hope they beat MU soundly on Sunday, and put you out of your misery.

After Sunday at Man U I was beginning to fear that the fairy tale might burst. But hey, great news this morning; no more the 'Nearly man' Mr Ranieri.

Love this from one of the fans' forums:
"Apart from the equalising goal and the final whistle I think my favourite moment in the game is when my missus said about five minutes from the end that she thought Cheltenham would score again.
That eased the tension beautifully, well done love".
