Goodbye Max
Just come back from the vet. Sadly our miniature schnauzer max who was nearly 13 had to be put to sleep. He did not want to leave us as in the end the vet had to give him 4 injections.
He was such a lovely loyal dog and we will miss him so very much.

Re: Goodbye Max
You have my sympathy Lindsey.
I've been down that road a few times and it never gets any easier.
You will gain some comfort remembering all the good times you had with him.

So sorry. We've been through it ourselves in the last twelve months and know how it hurts.

Re: Goodbye Max
We've only ever had cats, Lindsey, but it is never easy although it is always a consolation to know that you gave them the best life you could and, when the time came, you did the right thing and avoided any unnecessary suffering. Just try to remember the good times.

One things certain the postman, delivery men and the sainsburys groceries drivers won't miss him. He was the second schnauzer we have had we lost Scruffy when he was eight.
Thats over 20 years of having dogs so will have to think long and hard about having another.

So sorry to hear that Lindsey. We don't have pets partly because of the upset when they leave us. It's like losing one of the family.
I was taught to be cautious

Its never easy saying goodbye to a much loved pet but I'm sure if Max could speak he would have said thank you for giving him a peaceful ending.
Sorry for your loss Lindsey.

Sorry to hear you've lost your precious dog - my Cairn is now 15 years old and I feel every day is a bonus - trying not to think of the day she leaves me it is going to be very difficult.

So sorry to hear about Max. I know how much it hurts. I doubt we will have any more dogs after the two black labs we have now. It's too heartbreaking when they have to go. I value each day we are blessed with Charlie - 12 this month, diabetic and nearly blind with cataracts, but so loves his walks and wags his tail all day long.

Thank you everybody. It has been a heartbreaking few days. The house seems so quiet.
Anyway onwards and upwards we will be very busy over the next few weeks as my elderly father finally has a definate moving date.

Re: Goodbye Max
Hi All
Well its been about six months since we lost our minature schnauzer Max.
The house has been very quiet and we seem lost without a dog, he was our second schnauzer.
So we have been to see some lovely minature schnauzers and these are slightly different in that they are jet black all over, and originate from Spain. Miost of the others are salt and pepper colour. We have put our names on the list for the next litter of puppies for a boy dog which should be at the end of this month. We can choose which one when they are a few weeks old.
We are now considering names and insurance etc.

Excellent news, Lindsey - something to look forward to
I am sure we can help you with the naming ceremony. Something with a Germano-Welsh leaning.......?

Derog sounds a good Welsh name - means "the obstinate one"
Or you could even go for the Irish version - De-Dog !!
