We have plenty of other options that don't involve cruising.

Now where's our caravan? (Neatly back on topic there. :))
Was that the one with the sign on the door - "if the caravan's a rockin', don't come a knockin'" ?!

Lost count of the number of tax-exempt agricultural vehicles clogging up the roads this morning ! I had an interesting exchange of hand signals with two of them !!

Do you think I should start a petition on the government site to advocate a ban from public roads at peak times ?!

Just claim compo from the NFU.

On the bright side you've finally beaten the bunnies.

Oh, hang on.................

I have no problem with tractors as others have said they are feeding the nation.

I have no problem with caravans in general either unless they are travelling in convoy and being towed by pick up trucks looking for a bit of land to illegally camp on.

But what really annoys me is those mini sweeper trucks that spend the early hours tearing up and down the pavements and shopping precincts clearing up the rubbish thrown by litter louts.
There's nothing wrong with that you may say but after spending the whole morning on the pavement they then take to the road to get back to the depot at an average speed of 20 mph. and this on roads with a 40/50 mph speed limit.
The council spend thousands building cycle storage lockers why can't they spend a few bob on a shed near the shops to keep their four wheel Henry off the busy roads ?

I don't have a "problem" with tractors per se but my point was that it would be sensible if they were prevented from clogging up the roads at peak times and often creating a danger to other road users. Farmers are always telling us what long hours they work so can someone explain why they have to take to the roads at the same times us mere mortals are travelling to and from work ?!

grrrrr - that's one of my pet hates, is drivers hogging the middle (or even the outer) lane when there's nothing to overtake. Use the 2-second rule when following someone, and the 10-second rule for overtaking (if it'll take more than 10 seconds to reach the next vehicle in the inside lane, pull in)

I agree with the first wholeheartedly and the second with reservations. If it's an open road yes. If the traffic is heavy the chances are if you pull in after ten seconds and reach the next vehicle to overtake in 15 you'll never get back out again! So I'd say discretion on the time on that one, but the principle is sound.

And then there's the chav in the Merc brigade that come flying right up your ar*e from nowhere doing what seems like 200mph just as your in the process of overtaking. This happened to me recently on the way back from the West Midlands.

It's very difficult to judge a 10-second gap.

The vast majority of BMW, Audi and Merc drivers - especially BMWs, like the one who shot past me on Saturday and went a roundabout almost sideways because he was going too fast

Yes, agreed, but my original point was, if they want to use the roads at peak times then they should pay vehicle duty like the rest of us.

And don't talk to me about cyclists - I work in Oxford, remember !!

The moron that wanted to get into my back seat was weaving in and out of traffic lanes like an absolute lunatic once he got past me. I really do wonder how they think they have the right to drive in that manner. Sh*t for brains springs to mind. The annoying bit is its people like him that never get caught.
