Richard Briers RIP

Unread post by Kendhni »

I know he commented recently about his breathing difficulties being of his own making (for smoking) but I hadn't realised that he was that close to death.

The Good Life was always one of my favourites

Yes that's so sad. I also read his article recently about being "shot" due to his 80 a day habit but was not expecting this news so soon.
A very good actor who will be remembered for The Good Life, Everdecreasing Circles (loved this) and also excellent in King Lear.

Sad news indeed, 79 is not a bad age to live to.

He always struck me as being a hugely talented actor and a really lovely man.

It is a big loss - but let's count our blessings ...... aren't we so very lucky to have enjoyed his talent.

Thankyou Richard Briers, thankyou.

Em :)

The Good Life was such a good sit com. Very funny and Richard Briars will be remembered for years to come for his excellent portrayal of the self-sufficiency comedy character. Will be sadly missed.

So sad to hear this news I had no idea he suffered from emphysema. Something I know only too well as my Father had the same illness and I always said that he was the perfect advert for not smoking as it is a very debilitating illness.

Richard was a talented actor and his timing in comedy was brilliant and his classical parts were amazing, you will be missed.. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

I wasn't even aware he was ill.

RIP Richard.

We were fortunate enough to have him on a Xmas cruise a few years ago, he and 3 or 4 others staged several plays, I think it was something P&O tried and it can't have been that successful because I never saw it again.

Yes a sad loss. Still, we all have to pop off at some stage.

I once asked him for directions when in London many moons ago, not realising it was him until I drove off and then thinking 'that was.......'

Wonder how long before the press start digging around for any gos.
