Re: EU referendum - Stay or Leave?
Some people do spout a load of old tosh !
This was posted on Twaddle by Monty Don yesterday:
"If you love gardens and the rich european heritage that has created them then you must vote to remain a key and proud part of the EU."
Was Capability Brown "european"? Was Gertrude Jekyll? Or William Kent?
I always thought Monty Don to be a bit of a tit anyway but that only confirms it !

Re: EU referendum - Stay or Leave?
hmmm - and how many European gardens have been inspired or influenced by British horticulture? Indeed, la Jekyll designed gardens in Europe and America. Not aware that we were members of the EU at that time...

I'm believing nothing until the results are in. The pollsters made a right b***s up of it last time.

Re: EU referendum - Stay or Leave?
Well, while I'm glad Brexit won, I'm disappointed with the margin of victory - it's not exactly decisive and, had it been the other way round, I'm sure Mr Farage would have been demanded a recount or a re-run.

Re: EU referendum - Stay or Leave?
Listening to Tim Farron this morning and his analysis of the result underlines how far removed from reality some politicians are. They don't listen and they just don't get it.
I was taught to be cautious

Well, it's sad. I don't feel at ease with the result, and I just hope that in the fullness of time people won't regret how they voted.
Meanwhile, now maybe we get all get on with enjoying what passes for nice weather in the UK, with only the sporting fixtures to interrupt or entertain.

I agree Boris...(
)
I am feeling very uneasy and scared this morning.
David Cameron to step down now too.
Not a fan of his at all, but the alternative is even more scary.
Sad day for the UK.

Re: EU referendum - Stay or Leave?
What I don't agree with is someone automatically being nominated prime minister from within the Tory party. I think the country should vote for who they feel is right for prime minister not in-house.

there's a comment on P&O FB thus:
How much to hire a whole cruise liner? I've got a whole generation who are in need of a lift somewhere else.

I thought the Bank of England boss made a good calm reassuring speech.

Re: EU referendum - Stay or Leave?
I think many politicians and the rich and famous were just so out of touch with how EU policies have actually affected the "ordinary people", who have effectively voted for change. They simply don't know (or maybe don't care?) what life is like in the council estates of Boston and Bolton.
