Roll on October when it will all be over. More party political broadcast for weeks................again!

September is soon enough for this, BUT, give them a few weeks/months to chew over today's results first. :tired:

It is difficult to imagine voting for any of them - other than on the basis of 'the least bad option'!

Boris is likely as somebody with a Brexit hat will have to lead the exit negotiations, you caused the problem Boris so you fix it.

Failing that Teresa May who managed to sit on the fence throughout but Gove / Boris / Ian Duncan Smith need to be in the cabinet or front line negotiating team.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

I don't think George Osborne wants the job as he has gone AWOL and is only communicating via Twitter, perhaps this is the way forward for politics in Britain as we will all have a say without referendums.

Vote me as Prime Minister I go under the name of AN Other and already have 14% of the vote on this poll.

I know nothing about politics but compared to the others that might not be a problem.
I promise that I will take VAT off luxury holidays and cruises so us so called uneducated oldies who voted out of Europe can go back into Europe on the cheap.
I will stop all state benefits for people under 50 until the million or so job vacancies are filled.
I will put millions into the rebirth of the British hosiery and knitwear trade so that we no longer have to buy substandard garments with expensive designer labels from abroad.

Yes I am talking nonsense but that lot can get away with it why not me.

Whilst acknowledging Boris Johnson has a tendency to shoot from the hip on occasions and being a person who has had his fair share of misdemeanours along his political and personal life l still think he has the right credentials to make a good PM. The perception of a bumbling fool couldn't be further from the truth if you look at his track record in both business and his political carers.

I hope his party get behind him ....there's a lot more to Boris than meets the eye.

Funny you mention that Keith as I was talking about Boris this morning to lady S, and said he may be a bit of a joker but he is no fool and hasn't got where he is today (Mayor of London) running Punch and Judy shows.

It has to be Boris really, or if not, another Brexiter. They wanted Brexit, so they need to get it done.

I think they should not elect an out and out Brexiteer seeing how the result was so close. They need someone who can make some headway healing the open wound which now exists.

In negotiations I favour a woman, so I have voted for Theresa may on here. I was talking to one of our Labour councillors this morning, and he echoed my feelings exactly. Incidentally I congratulated him for distributing Remain leaflets where we live, when we didn't see a Tory throughout the entire campaign.

Can't someone shut that Jean Claude Juncker up? He is making things much worse with his un elected big mouth.

What about a vote for leader of the opposition ?, it has to be Corbyn because he is sacking everyone that opposes him.

I hope Corbyn is going, but the unions have such power that I think he will stay. Some people round here (a Tory stronghold) are so disillusioned with the Tories for their endless infighting that Corbyn may be the PM after the next election. Any way If BoJo gets the Tory Leadership vote it will totally destroy their chances of getting mine or Sue's vote, chances of which are pretty slim at present.

I hope Corbyn does stay as this will open up the opportunity for the emergence of new 'desperately needed' political parties . With the expected defectors from the labour party the dissalousuoned from the conservative party and a sprinkling from other fringe parties.

I don't have much faith in any of them. Boris is not actually as daft as he makes out but is he really statesman material for the world stage? Theresa May is a strong candidate for my money and kept her head down during the referendum but whether the Tories will see her as party leader or not I don't know. My outside bet would be on somebody like Andrea Leadsom or Liam Fox. Just a pity Gisela Stuart is Labour. I liked her.

As for the Labour party. The unions have such a strong hold anything could happen. Hopefully they will not go for any of the old guard like Harmann, Cooper & Co. I wonder if Chuka Umunna will throw his hat in the ring this time. To be honest they are in such a mess as to be unelectable anything could happen.

At the moment no party is deserving of my vote until they start tackling inequalities in basic infrastructure within the UK.

I liked Gisela Stuart as well she came across very well.

I have been interested in politics for a while and have followed the last few months with interest. It has decided me to actually join a political party so that can have more of a say.

I was watching Nicola Sturgeon on the Andrew Marr program this morning and thought, you know what, it's a shame she's batting for the Scotts as I think she could make a good PM for us lot darn Souf.
Mind you, I would't want to listen to her at a dinner function, boy can she rabbit. I don't know about my food getting cold, it would probably have gone mouldy by the time she finnished yacking

The next PM will have a lot of re-uniting to do both in the Conservative Party and the country.

Whilst Boris is highly popular he only has the backing of about 17.5% of the Conservative electorate (arrived at, assuming that there was an even cross-party split - 51.9% in favour of Brxit with a 72.2% turnout = 37.5% of the total electorate in favour of exiting and with the Conservatives at the last General Election having just under 50% of the vote 50% of 37.5% = 17.5%). Also bear in mind that Boris does not, as far as I can recall, have very much, if any, experience of holding any Government office.

Therefore my choice would be Theresa May for PM with Boris as Deputy PM with special responsibility for negotiating our exit from the EU

Lindsey, please assure me you're not joining Gladys Pugh and Plaid Cymru!!!! She actually reminds me of Wendolene from Wallace & Gromit's Close Shave.

Hi Foxy...If only you had passed that message on earlier..Oops! :)

Couldn't agree more about Gisela Stuart's contribution to the leave campaign, very articulate in her delivery and seemed to have a depth of knowledge on other political issues also....hope she finds a seat around the negotiation table.

Theresa May will be seen as a safe pair of hands so will definitely be in the shake up if she decides to stand.

Boris may not come across as your typical statesman like figure but he dose have the nack of getting to where he wants to be which is an attribute that may be useful when it comes to negotiating our way out of the EU?

Must dash l need a pee
