I wonder whether Sachin has tackled Merv about tips and "excellent" ratings more times than his lav has been blocked ? My guess is they will total about the same !!

Excellent has bern mentioned. Toilet blocked last night! My life is ruined.

We had a problem with the toilet flush but Celebrity sorted it out in a couple of hours, so definitly Modern Luxury rather than Calamity which seems to fit P&O quite well though.

Apart from a pretty overt plea for an excellent rating when the form was handed over we got several comments along the lines of "I hope you have an excellent day today." But if the stories are true I'm annoyed P&O have put them in this position. If I've paid my tips in full I expect every penny of them to be handed over to the staff who looked after me and nothing withheld because some miserable git down the corridor had a bad day. Some people will never tick the top score on principle. Any performance below the average of a group of people should be addressed by feedback and training and never by witholding tips I've handed over in good faith. That's if the stories are true. That's my excellent opinion.

A further thought. If I mark the itinerary or value for money less than excellent do the bods at HQ responsible for those things get their salary docked?

At about 50p per hour! Yes those ones. Personally I'd prefer they were paid properly and tips scrapped altogether.

We did. And he was excellent. When we purloined supplies of Earl Grey from the Horizon he quickly caught on and ensured continued supplies. We had one minor issue with the cabin that he quickly rectified.

Yes, he was good at what he did but, apart from the "excellent" requests, he kept asking us to complain to reception that we didn't have enough tea and coffee. Presumably so he could get more supplies - I think he was flogging it on the black market !!

The neighbours must think we have gone mad seeing smoke coming out of the chimney. Had a bee drop in via the chimney this afternoon with a few more buzzing about further up. Hopefully smoking them out will solve the problem before they get established with a nest.

We're at Bembridge trying the Warner place. But don't tell anyone. So far not bad. The public rooms are a bit shabby but our room (appropriately a Captain's room) is only about two years old and very nice, with views across the Solent. As we fit in a quick snifter before dinner we're awaiting Queen Elizabeth sailing by.

p.s. we get slippers, and we've never been before!
