The reason a low pound is not so good for many of our exporters is very simple,
Any raw materials coming from overseas have increased in price by the same amount,
de-valuations of currency are only a short term fix and tend to lead to excessive increases in inflation in the future.

Pretty decisive - but will the "party faithful" agree ?

High inflation with higher wages is probably just what Carney and Georgy boy are wanting, it should lead to a much faster repayment of the national debt as, similar to mortgages, we have higher revenues to repay the debt.

That is a frightening prospect, Jeremy heading up our Brexit renegotiation team, he would probably opt to take in all the EU's refugees/immigrants/IS terrorists as well as securing the worst trade deal possible, and then double the minimum wage and increase top rate tax to 99% for any group of workers he hates.
You may dislike the Tories but I think they are best placed to negotiate our new arrangement with the EU.

Consumer confidence has experienced the sharpest drop since December 1994 and travel spending is 'particularly vulnerable'.

A one-off poll by research group GfK, following Britain's vote to leave the European Union, found the index has fallen 8 points to minus 9.

"All of the key measures used to calculate the Index have fallen," said GfK.

"This long-running survey dates back to 1974, and there has not been a sharper drop than this for 21 years."

The result was split according to how people voted and showed that 'Remainers' were at minus 13 while 'Leavers' were more optimistic at minus 5.

"Our analysis suggests that in the immediate aftermath of the referendum, sectors like travel, fashion and lifestyle, home, living, DIY and grocery are particularly vulnerable to consumers cutting back their discretionary spending," said Joe Staton, head of market dynamics at GfK.

I don't totally disagree with that statement but the Labour party is in no current state to fight a snap election.

They could be decimated in the north, as they have been in Scotland.

If we have a quick election, we could easily end up with UKIP being the third party, behind the Tories and SNP.

Thinking seriously, it could be in the Governments favour to call a snap election, but not in the country's.

There's another old saying: "lies, damned lies and statistics". What was the demographic of the survey? It's all very well saying "The result was split according to how people voted and showed that 'Remainers' were at minus 13 while 'Leavers' were more optimistic at minus 5." but how many people from both "sides" were questioned?

I really don't know why everyone is making such a big fuss about it. The vote has been done, the die is cast. We can no longer do anything about it. It's now up to others to sort things out as and when.
