Look at it more positively, Cubie, by the time Christmas comes round they'll be bored with it and we'll get some peace and quiet.

Anyway, I went to the home/port page the other day and this thread was listed so I thought I'd take a look, and here we are

Give us a break girls I'm still looking forward to about 14 weeks of BBQ's and two holidays, come back about the end of November with your Christmas cheer and I will be happy to join you.

Cheryl has a cupboard full of Christmas stuff she bought in the January sales despite the fact that we will be bobbing about in the Atlantic from 21st. December to 4th. January ?????????.

I only said it to wind up you men, Ray, although this Christmas I shall pull out all the stops because next year we'll be away for a month on QM2 over the festive season.

I think you women were put on this earth to wind us men up Gill, but where Christmas is concerned I'm afraid I have the title Ebeneezer Scrooge among our fiends and family. For the last ten years of my working life although I had Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years day off I was on 24 hour call out so I had to remain sober just in case.

I loved to see the kids enjoy Christmas and now like to spend quality time with the grandkids but I'm always glad to see the decorations go back in the loft.

Tony was on-call or actually out working for more than half of the Christmases/New Years of the 34 years we were married before he retired, certainly the 28 years he was in General Practice. In fact our children hardly saw him in their early years when alternate weeks he was working 120 hrs+ a week. But there you go, that's the way it goes, or at least that's the way it went, and he's at home plenty now

So we enjoy the festivities to the full.

Nice one Gill

I have several sets of battery operated lights which I take too, I did suggest a 6ft real Xmas tree for the balcony one year but I won't repeat what the reply was :o never say never though .. I wonder if I could actually take one on board ;)

Ha Ha I hope Ray's wife is reading all this it would be a shame if she couldn't take Xmas with her.

Oh I'm not sure I could persuade Tony to cart a real tree on board, but I do have a 2' artificial tree that would look nice. If I only plug them in while we are in the cabin, is there any reason why I can't take a set of plug in lights? If not I'll have to look for battery operated sets.

No reason at all that you can't take plug in lights as far as I know, my tree is a mains fibre optic tree and I usually ask the steward if it is ok to leave it plugged in, they've never said no.

I only take the battery operated lights because it means I'm not restricted as to where I can put them ( they look very effective around the bar area with the mirror reflection ) I don't know about QM2 but certainly on QE and QV the only place I can plug the tree in is in the 'dressing table' area ..

Tesco usually have several choices of battery lights and they are quite reasonable.

Sadly, because we booked QV first, and prices have risen, we are now in a P1 so won't have as much room - unless, the upgrade fairy finds an unlikely upgrade! But being Christmas I am not at all optimistic!

But we'll enjoy decorating the space we do have anyway - might look out for a pop-up tree Sue. Shame you won't be on there, Jo.

Just 17 months to wait now.

One of our friends takes a pop up tree Sue which is about 5 ft high but I still prefer my 2.5 ft high fibre optic as I don't have to think about decorating it but a good point that one would lie flat in a suitcase.

Indeed Gill it is a shame we won't be there, I love the Caribbean we spent 22 Christmas's there but sadly it is no longer an option ( due to restrictions/cost of our insurance )
