Thought I'd put my head above parapet as Aldershot have crept up to 5th in table! I'm enjoying the footie whilst I can!

My husband and I went to Hinton Ampner yesterday for a trip out and a NT coffee and cake. Just entered the gardens when someone shouted "Aldershot" and we turned round to see 2 friends we'd made on an Adonia cruise and hadnt seen for 3 years! Really lovely day.

Transfer Deadline Day

Why do I get more and more depressed with each report of another player with a totally unpronounceable name joining an English club at a total cost of £1 BILLION and rising ?!

What hope is there for up and coming local talent and, ultimately, the national team ?!

It seems like the mantra is win at all cost. Anyone else think we should have a strict limit on the number of foreign players in each team - and soon ?

Even our local Southern League team has more than its fair share of names ending in "ic" and "ov" !

1 Billion is peanuts, Apple owe an estimated 11 Billion in unpaid tax ... that is depressing !!!

ps .... Watford spent a mere 54 million on their new players  .

For those of you who have Sky, just to inform that Gillingham V Sheffield Utd is live on Sunday at 2.00 pm.

Two sides that should be pushing for promotion, so should be a half decent game.

I expect a paltry crowd as it's on TV.
Sheffield usually bring quite few but probably won't this time.
Plus rain is forecast and they don't get a roof.

Our away stand is a disgrace actually, with temporary seating, no roof and portacabin loos.

Our end has a really nice bars, various food outlets and clean toilets.

PS < Gills spent exactly zip on new players

Thankfully.....I don't !

I know Moby mentioned this before but isn't it just ridiculous that the likes of Chelsea have so many players out on loan - the equivalent of over three full teams in their case. As was pointed out, they just sign everyone they can so that no one else can have them. There really ought to be a cap both on spending and the number of players a club can register.

Indeed I do have SKY and I presently consider it to be jolly good value ... consider ... I am sometimes able to watch Watford games live else they broadcast one hour highlights most Sunday mornings. The cost of actually going to all these games would run into thousands.

You are right Chelski do have umpteen players out on loan. We had their Ake last year, Bournemouth have him this year ... these lads get valuable game time and that is far better for their development than playing in the Chelsea under 23 team from time to time. Most of them are sold on eventually and the proceeds represent very good business for the clubs concerned.

Another game for me to consider watching on Sunday is Northampton vs Mk Dons. Many years ago I watched the Cobblers rise from the fourth to the first division and then back again in consecutive seasons

OMG moby !!!

What a comeback that was.

I'm no lover of Wet Spam and their publicly funded new stadium, so I was doubly chuffed.

Gills were .... well, ok I guess.

Leicester were not. Foxy, are the wheels coming off?

Wet Spam

They were showboating and paid the price but 4 goals in 23 minutes is the sort of thing that Arsenal do not little ol Watford. We have ManU next week, bet we don't beat them 4:2.

If that's the case I can teach Foxy the Notts County "Wheelbarrow" song.

First verse, " I had a wheelbarrow the wheel fell off".

If you win that do you get a free pass if you end up in the bottom 3? Or are you just making room for us in the PL.

I went to Meadow Lane last night to watch England Ladies v Estonia and it was so one sided that the England goalkeeper only touched the ball when it was passed back by one of her defenders.

One thing I did notice though is that the England team don't have much aerial power as dozens of perfect crosses went begging, but the quality of the passing was excellent and much better than the male squad.

In general my first experience of ladies football was quite enjoyable but it was the first time I have had corporate hospitality where I had to wear a wristband.

Did you get any prawn sarnies?

I went to see Aldershot play Notts County a few times. One memorable time was a few days following the death of Jimmy Sirrel in September 2008. He played for the shots for 3 years in the 1950s as well as managing County 3 times. The atmosphere at Meadow Lane was great and the "locals" very hospitable!

Went to see the championship leaders beat QPR today, and I have to say they played some very good stuff, far better than anything they have produced in the last 10/15 years, you would need to go back to the Steve Bruce team at the turn of the century to see such a dominant display.
I just wish they could score more goals, which their play certainly deserves.

Great display of football from my lot today and our new boy bagged a brace. It looks like we are coming to terms with the loss of Kante who was so influential for us last season and have discovered a new little star in Amartey. Burnley looked poor in defence and attack.
Another 33 points and we should be safe for next year. If we can get them by Christmas.......................

We got a bit cocky last night and thought we could take on Chelsea with 10 men, We lost 4-2 AET after being 2-0 up. Never mind, I couldn't cope with another cup; it's hard enough coping with the one we've got!!
