Specsavers advert

Unread post by CaroleF »

We were watching tv this evening - while a delicious supper was cooking I might add - and the Specsavers ad came on, the one where the girl gets off the train, goes up to the wrong man and kisses him - quite enthusiastically. My husband (who doesn't usually watch adverts, let along comment on them) said that if it was a man getting off the train and going up to a woman on the platform and kissing her equally enthusiastically it would be seen as an assault - do people think that is right? I must admit I think he has a point. Would Specsavers have put an advert on with things the other way round? By the way, supper was good, courtesy mainly of Ocado!

I think the advert is very funny but you make a very valid point - had the roles been reversed, all hell could have been let loose.

Talking about adverts - and taking into account my weakness for giggling (especially if I see something which amuses me onboard) - the Saga advert has just made life very difficult for me.

It's the character in the advert stood in his underpants j j j j jiggling about whilst ironing - my husband kindly commented that it was a member of staff and could be one of several staff members we know - and I can tell you right now, if any of those staff members are on board it's going to be a bad dose of the giggles for me!

I think I may well be spending some meal times under the tablecloth!

He's only jealous of my stunning good looks and my endearing charm (and my modesty and shyness)

I find the Specsavers ad with the partially sighted sheep shearer so funny - although I feel sorry for the poor dog! It's a wonder the RNIB have not complained in this age of political correctness.
However i cannot knock Specsavers as, athough I have my sight tested and contact lens supplied through another optician, I use Specsavers for my frames as they are about a third of the price and good quality.
