Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
I joined the old cc around 2002 which was about 5 years after we started cruising. I remember a very nice lady who is no longer with us setting up meetings on our first Black Sea cruise in 2005. Maybe some of you remember Gail Witherington.
Over the years we made many friends through the forums, long may it continue and many thanks to David et al for their efforts with this incarnation.

Don't mention belts. Just sayingOnelife wrote:Stephen wrote:As a member of this and the previous P&O forums a total of 10yrs + do I qualify for a free cruise.
No, thought not![]()
Any other long standing members. I'll rephrase that. Any old lags on here apart from Moby, David, Onelife and yours truly. I'm sure there are plenty more but the names escape me at the moment.
No particular reason for the post, just out of interest.
Hey Stephen....you're probably spot on about Moby but calling me and David old slags is a bit below the belt if you don't mind me saying![]()

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
Not sure of the exact year that I joined but my first two ' friends ' were D63 and Ken ( as in Julie, not Shazza )
I asked a simple question about Gin prices on Oriana and walked slap bang into the middle of a ding-dong battle between Dancing Queen, Manx Elaine, Spud, Wolfie, Bella36 and of course good old John the Dog ... plus many others.
TMM was also about of course along with toady Kenshaz plus a whole collection of ' detractors ' ...
The funniest bit was the re-enactment of ' Snow White and the seven dwarfs ', so ... moi plus Pete the Eagle, Tinker, HK and ... who else ?
Ah, those were the days and such fun when one wasn't burdened with the onerous duties of being a Moderator.

This is what happened to me as well, enrolled here with a new name as I couldn't remember the first one from the P&O cruise community

when we enrolled on the original CC site we used real names ( mainly) - those were the days - before screen names. And here was a list of who would be on which cruise.
In retrospect, security was appalling!

Remember Dennis quite a lot of those names.

Yes, the MM was always entertaining and informative and it's a pity he was driven out. HK Phooey was usually good for a laugh and Dennis's input when he was able to post regularly were invariably good fun. Lioness has been around for a while and was always good for a bit of controversy but we have not heard much from her lately. And speaking of the IOM and controversy, Emjay finally gave up the fight with the forum bully, which was a shame. Cornmillgirl, of course, was originally Olive Oyl and she Popeye are two of our most travelled cruisers (maybe even more than fellow-Lancastrian Sue?).Onelife wrote:......so if you had one choice, who would you like to see return?....For me it would have to be Mr Kane aka (The Monocled Mutineer)

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
We joined about 2006, and when it was rolled up it took us a while to find this one. I have met Dennis the Menace. Absolutely lovely chap, and several of the others who don't post so often these days. Where is jackSparrow? I met her on Arcadia, she was in the suite Sue and I had for our half worldie. Some people have, I know been put off by some of the spats and that is a shame. I must confess, it has discouraged me a few times.

Just a point of order on MM, not sure he was driven out. My understsnding was he didn't agree with moderators being allowed to post. But you're right. I often diasgreed with him, but he could certainly stir up a lively debatekaymar wrote:Yes, the MM was always entertaining and informative and it's a pity he was driven out. Yes Sir Merv, that was my understanding also........If l remember correctly l and others had similar issues with "forum friends" becoming moderators but unlike others l decided to stay.

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
I think there were two versions of the old P&O Community site, I remember when they changed to the second version. There was a lot of useful information on those two sites which I believe could be accessed for a while once they took the forum down. I remember being able to post on the Community site when on board, for free! Eventually of course P&O cottoned on as to how much revenue they were losing. I know my girls logged on with my password in order to read the blog I was posting. Those were the days! I do remember how slow the site was too.

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
I think there was a bit of a stink kicked up about people using the free access to the forum for blogging and then others ferrying the reports to rival sites (the members of which often had nothing good to say about CC - so deeply hypocritical)
