Remember Pretty Polly on the old site? It was her who actually introduced me to is (so you all know who to blame!). Sadly, she is no longer posting.

Yes Sir Merv, that was my understanding also........If l remember correctly l and others had similar issues with "forum friends" becoming moderators but unlike others l decided to stay.

Keith
I never had any problems with "forum friends" becoming mods.
Who else was David going to choose?
It is his forum, he had to chose people he could trust and whom he felt would be fair. Which IMO they are.
I think he chose well and if those who left had problems with that, well so be it.

Since this site is run, extremely well (creep creep) on a voluntary basis it would have been extremely unfair to say to the unpaid Modplods "by the way, you can't post on here". And I've not been aware on any occasion when any of them have abused their power. So I'm not really sure what MM's issue was. Shame he took his bat and ball home though.

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
When I was invited to be a Mod the following question was raised and discussed ....
Should the Mods be called ' Admin ' as they were on P&O or should we be open and honest with the Members of this ( David's ) site and use our Member names.
Consider ...
* David wanted it be open and honest, for us all to be judged longer term regarding our impartiality.
* P&O Mods were called Admin but those who were could post under other names that you were not aware of.
* Our names with roles were announced and highlighted for ease of recognition.
NB ... further TMM posts / references will be deleted as he is not here to defend himself or comment etc.

Hi Sue....As you rightly say it is David's forum and he chooses how and whom he wishes to help with the moderating of his forum. That being said it is a fact that several of those mentioned ( old members) felt uncomfortable with this set up and therfore decided to leave. Whilst l have enormous respect for David's choice of moderators l still feel uncomfortable about them having access to my personal information.
I can't tell it fairer than that.

Hi Meg.....l think it best that we leave it there....less of course the mods would like to clarify?
What l can tell you though is that if l were a Mod l would have used any information for personal gain

I only have one suggestion, but I am ambivalent about it; how about a no politics rule? I sometimes wonder if politics and religion aren't the two most divisive issues in life.

OL .... where do you get these ideas ?
I will respond to you if I may ...
" It is absolutely impossible for me, or any other MOD, to access any PMs apart from their own."
FACT !!!

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
I started on the original P & O forum back in 2002. I didn't post much in those days, but I did like reading.
I remember the old forum as being slow and very clunky to use, as a new reply didn't take the thread to the top of the list. Being on dial up at the time didn't help either.

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
I can confirm that I have no access to any information other than that available to any other member - no personal details, no passwords, no bank balances, no access to PMs so I am not sure where this idea came from.
As a mod, when David asked me, I felt it was important that members knew who they were talking to (and about) as opposed to some faceless being making decisions.
There are occasions where it would be easier to be able to speak out and say exactly what I thought rather than being constrained as a mod. Sometimes I do have to sit on my hands but I wonder if those who were so averse to mods posting on the forum, if we were anonymous known only as Admin but also posting under our own names.
Ironically enough some groups have been formed by those who left us and they post within their own groups.................... I fail to see the difference.

This forum is far superior to that of the old P@O days.
There used to be so many nasty spats and it doesnt happen now. Well done to the Mods. Some of the people left because they knew they couldn't stir anymore.
A good site with decent people contributing.

I started on the old P&O page late 2007 with our first cruise 2008. I posted as Peter & Jennifer.
I liked MMs posts especially his 1st Day, which I still have a copy of. I also remember Libralass, aka Sue Veale, gave me lots of ideas for our Caneries cruise on Arcadia.

Hi OBF/Moby....It wasn't an “idea” it was a perception, or should that be 'apprehension' of which some “now departed members” held when it was announced that the forum was to have moderators drawn from its own members. (On that note I would be the first to say you have fulfilled this roll without favour and with fairness). I do recall (on this forum) there being quite a bit of discussion on the subject of what powers moderators would have and the uncertainty/reassurance of such was a deciding factor why some member decided to leave David forum.

P.s I think you are both showing far to much leniency towards Stephen who has on more than one occasion called me a pervert!...btw..I'm cutting all ties with Stephen from now on, and I'm sending him back the Deep Throat 2 video he borrowed me last week.

Re: Forum Loyalty roll call
I think this an excellently run site. I've no problem with the Mods being able to post - we know who they are and they seem to oversee the site with good humour. I like the fact that we get to "know" people and generally we don't get any of those postings where someone appears, runs down a whole cruise with few facts and then disappears, as you get on some sites. I think David did a fantastic job creating this site when the P&O site disappeared. It's far superior and has kept the P&O thing going but includes other lines as well. No this is not "creeping" just stating my opinion.
