Win some lose some

Unread post by Ray Scully »

With the demise in the value of the GBP our forthcoming Caribbean cruise will cost more. however our Carnival shares are going through the roof (time to sell) Thankfully we are not on an American line because our drinks bill could be very painful. No doubt if the pound stays so low there will be a hike in travel insurance to compensate. I wonder how all this is going to effect American and Caribbean holidays going forward?

Just found a bill from Cunard in September, it was expensive enough then Ray. It is going to affect a lot of things. Still there we are, if we say anything we will be labelled as Remoaners. There will be an election soon, the Tories wont be able to resist it.

You think anyone other than the Tories will win the next election with the chaos in Labour? And by 2020 we'll be out. Thank goodness.

Not when the majority of Tories are in favour of staying in.

Ray
if you honestly believe that the majority of Tories want to stay in the eu then I really feel sorry for you and can only suggest you join the labour party as most of there ideas under the present leadership are about as stupid as yours

I've got a great idea!

Let's lay all of our cards on the table and tell the EU negotiators exactly what we are prepared to accept for a deal, up front.

I actually cannot believe how dumb Emily Thornbury is, particularly as she claims to be a lawyer.

Quid Quo Pro as they used to say in ancient Rome.

If the price of leaving the EU is a bit of a hike on holiday prices, then a decision will be made by most.
It may just boost the UK tourist industry.

Pre-Brexit I would have got 1.16 euros now I'll get 1.10.
Big deal!

Project Fear is alive and well, and living in the BBC and UK press.

I find it rather perturbing that the Daily Mail is very much a Brexit supporter, whilst its sister paper Mail on Sunday is anti Brexit and reads just like the BBC news reports; totally strange.

When/If people start feeling the financial pain Ray, they will do what they've always done.
Adapt.

The pound was over valued and industry complained that exports were too expensive.
So it falls, and then folk moan imports are too expensive.

When the FTSE100 & 250 are low, the city worries.
When the FTSE 100 & 250 are high, the city worries.

The City worries about Brexit, The USA elections, China, and pretty much anything else you can think of.

All of a sudden, people are worried about bankers. Yep, the very same guys who caused the last recession.
Some may lose their jobs ....................... Shame!

Politicians just love a headline.
They actually know eff all.
About the same as me actually.

What I do know without a doubt is if it's not one thing, it's another, so we may as well chill out and not worry about it.

Does this thread need to be moved from Cruise Specific Discussion?
Or should discussion get back to the subject matter of this first post?

Please note the last paragraph.

This is why all those that talk our country down, really haven't got a clue.

Ok, my answer. In the short term there will be uncertainty and some pain. In the longer term we are a major economy and it will make little difference

I heard Remoaner in Chief, Nick Clegg today (the one who oversaw the collapse of the Lib Dem vote at the election) still banging on about another referendum because it wasn't clear whether we were voting for a soft Brexit or a hard Brexit. I don't see much point in the British public voting to Leave the EU only for us to sidle back in by the side door. Which part of out does this deluded little man not understand or does he want a referendum ad infinitum until he gets the result he wants.
Once we are out I reckon it won't be long until other countries follow suit.

An agreement has been reached............................ Quelle surprise!!!!

Interestingly Marmite is produced in UK. It is the packaging which has to be imported. Is it not a sad indictment of our manufacturing industry that we rely on imports to package our own products. Likewise a travesty that our home brands have now been shipped off to be made abroad and we then import them back into the country. Time to reinstate UK as a manufacturing base in more ways than one.
