Thanks DQ, but I wish I hadn't bothered now. What was I thinking.

Usually as late as possible. I haven't a clue when it comes to buying presents, except for Sue, and she is easy to please.

When should you do your Christmas shopping ?.

Cheryl: January 1st. to December 20th., she buys all her wrapping materials and stocking fillers for the grandkids (and their parents who are even bigger kids) then she is buying bits for the rest of the family all year round until about 4/5 days before Christmas day unless we are away for Christmas like this year.

Ray: Christmas Eve, yes every year I leave it until the final hours as I only have Cheryl's gifts to buy because she has done the rest over the previous 12 months.
Mind you I did queue up for 37 minutes in the Pandora shop with Cheryl on Friday as she purchased something for our granddaughter, Cheryl was amazed at my patience but I soon lost my brownie points when I was dragged around M&S moaning all the way.

As early as possible would be my ideal, so as to avoid the maddening hordes who leave it to the last minute. Unfortunately, ideals and practices don't always coincide...

Ray's idea is the best, but once Christmas is over I don't think about it again until Strictly starts on TV, and then its just a fleeting thought. Christmas shopping doesn't really interest me.

When she was really organised, Jo, the Lady C used to do hers in the January sales!

What is interesting is that there is a long build up to Christmas then a few days after the big day people can't wait to get back to normal

Online shopping is the answer. It doesn't really matter then when you start...as early or late as you want.Avoid all that pushing and shoving and queuing. Do all mine that way then relax and eat mince pies

Since we are away again this year our Christmas shop is mostly done already - just a few Amazon vouchers to get. Family Christmas dinner is to be the first week of December.

I sort of feel guilty about the Amazon vouchers because it is the easy 'no-thought' option, but apparently my nephews seem to trust their own judgement in purchasing something rather than mine. :(
