Re: Let us not forget
A poignant reminder of those who made the ultimate sacrifice that we may lead the lives we have.

For the last two years, we've been on board on this date and the services were absolutely wonderful and moving.

Re: Let us not forget
My father was killed in WW2 when I was only 8 months old so remembrance day does have added meaning for me.
However the increase in recent years of activity surrounding poppy day does disturb me somewhat, it clearly increases awareness and presumably donations to the Royal British Legion, but it has become a little too impersonal, especially from my early memories of Remembrance Sunday church services holding my mother's hand and feeling a little of the loss she must have felt.

In Flanders fields the poppies grow,
between the crosses row on row.
We lost five members of my dads family in WW1 and my grandfather died shortly after the war due to the gas that weakend his lungs.

I found one of my great uncles on the Menin Gate, other than that our family seems to have got off lightly
