But surely facts and evidence are potentially just the biased beliefs of whoever created and wrote them.Silver_Shiney wrote: 29 Mar 2017, 22:26My personal opinion isn't as important as facts and evidence, which are vastly preferable to assumption and conjecture.wolfie wrote: 29 Mar 2017, 22:19Still a website and not your personal opinion which would carry much more weight.Silver_Shiney wrote: 29 Mar 2017, 22:13Happy to oblige, Wolfie, but on a point of order, I don't get my information from Google but from a website written by PhD holders who prefer facts to supposition.

As an analogy I would suggest the forecasts issued by the remain camp, and to a lesser extent the Brexit camp as well, were the well founded beliefs of those who made them, but since they were either for one side or the other, their interpretation was totally influenced by their beliefs. Ergo not really worth the paper, or Google gigabytes, they were written on.
Much safer to stick to reading fiction, you know where you stand with that, its all make believe.

Too true. If Theresa May had used due democratic process, rather than pretending to be some kind of dictator, she would not have had to fight two court cases only to go through Parliament anyway.Silver_Shiney wrote: 30 Mar 2017, 07:24More that we're bemoaning that it's taken so long, and that there are still many people who reject due democratic processJack Staff wrote: 30 Mar 2017, 00:03I would have thought that today of all days, the high water mark of Brexit, you guys would be celebrating.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 29 Mar 2017, 22:00Agreed Wolfie. 'My pitch is very simple, I'm Theresa May and I think I'm the best person to be Prime Minister'
Theresa May.
I agree with her.
We are where we are and it's going to take a strong leader to see us through what lies ahead...best give our country a chance and stop knocking what was democratically voted for.
Anyone got an opinion about faith schools....Oops!

Re: Current Affairs
I'm not a great fan of any particular political party but I am pleased to see Theresa May standing up to the bully boys (and girls). Unlike Cameron who backed off at every opportunity whenever he was challenged. I was sorry she did not back Hammond over the National Insurance issue; she rather hung him out to dry when she should have been backing him but so far she has stood firm against those who would disrupt the Brexit process. Strength of character is what is needed over the coming months.
Take a look at the alternatives and we are in a mess - Corbyn, Clegg/Farron, Sturgeon/Salmond & Co. I see Gina Miller is still banging on and preparing her next visit to the High Court. I wonder who is funding her crusade to delay the process?
Anyone got a cross and a clove of garlic to quieten Onelife down? I presume his nags were unplaced at Cheltenham!!

Remainer Theresa is looking out for herself first, then party. The country and 'the people' are not high on her priority list.oldbluefox wrote: 30 Mar 2017, 12:58I'm not a great fan of any particular political party but I am pleased to see Theresa May standing up to the bully boys (and girls). Crowd funded by the British public, so people like me. It's not about delay, it's about doing it according to the law of this country. Of course, if Theresa May had followed due democratic process then the government costs would not have had to have been born by the public purse.oldbluefox wrote: 30 Mar 2017, 12:58I see Gina Miller is still banging on and preparing her next visit to the High Court. Re: Current Affairs
My understanding is that the country was asked to vote in a referendum as to whether or not we stayed in a corrupt political union. Having given that decision, it is then up to the government to carry out the wishes of the majority. That is all the mandate that is needed.
I take my hat off to the Prime Minister who is (albeit slowly) carrying out those wishes, even though she did not agree with them.

Hi foxy....l had the misfortune to break down just before Cheltenham (Broken ankle) which on reflection saved a lot of the house keeping money. I had stashed away a couple of hundred for keefy's hot tips but as the job of placing my bets fell on the wife l decided smaller wagers would be less painful on my ankle..squeak! squeak!
Anyhow's....The moral of this story is that l can now afford a steak to go with that clove of garlic you mentioned
