I thought there was no provision in the treaty for Article 50 to be rescinded once it was triggered ?

Now why would you expect the likes of Tim Farron to know that?

Today's Daily Mail, sorry about that, has demonstrated that the EU owes us £58,500,000 when we leave ... sounds about right to me

You could give it to UKIP as a leaving present because after the local election results, I don't think we'll be seeing much more of them !

Well if they think we owe them 60 billion and we think they owe us 58 billion I suggest we call it quits!

No Merv, I think we should share out the 58 billion among those who voted leave, and let Jeremy Corbyn pay them the 60 billion we owe, he seems to be able to conjure spending promises out of thin air.

I think "right mind" and "Jezzer" in the same sentence might be grammatically incorrect.

I don't know about anyone else but I find it a strange concept that loosing copious numbers of seats in the recent local elections is called a "success" and a springboard to gaining power at the General Election.

At least we will not have to worry about loosing our winter fuel allowance if Tiny Tim takes power!!

I can't help but feel that Tim would make an ideal pantomime dim comedian, a sort of widow twankie's son type of character, not all there but quite harmless really; unless of course he was in power.

I think it would be a great idea to steal our Xmas Bonus and Winter Fuel Allowances if the income gained ( £2 Billion ) was used to cap the amount of money some of us you oldies may have, hopefully not, to pay at your care home / gaga castle.

The obvious answer to the fuel allowance and free TV licence is to do away with both and increase pensions to compensate. Thus low earners get the lot and the better off hand a chunk back in tax. Fair and no administration cost. Is that too simple for Tiny Dim?

This new power has already gone to your head, I thought we were sharing 58 billion, not million?

In reality, the UK will have to pay some kind of fee for good access to the EU single market.
And there will be tariffs imposed (both ways ) as well.

The EU cannot and will not allow a 'third country' to have the same free access as member states.
That would be the beginning of the end for the EU.

So the question for debate is how much and at what tariff level?

I think that it will be a rolling fee i.e. X amount per year for X amount of years

Can the PM sell that idea to the electorate?

Otherwise it's a stuff you EU.
We pay nothing, walk away and trade under normal WTO conditions.

It will be interesting to see which way she goes after getting a massive mandate.

I imagine that the civil servants in the dept of trade, or whatever its current title is, will have been frantically pouring over our trade figures to figure out where our advantages and disadvantages lie, and the impact of various scenarios.
One important point that should not be forgotten is that Sterling floats, so actually a perceived bad deal for the UK will drive Sterling down, but conversely that will help make our exports cheaper. The weaker EU countries do not have this freedom, they are stuck with a Euro valued primarily against the strength of the German economy. Outside the EU we will have the freedom to source our imports from countries with cheaper products, however even with tariffs our exports may still be cheaper for EU countries.
The major problem to an acceptable trade agreement to both parties is the uncertainty of any new arrangements, and neither side will want to appear as the ultimate loser. In which case it could be a hard Brexit and weaker economic growth for both parties, and that may cause serious problems for the weakest EU economies, which might just tip the balance in our favour.

I agree John

It is well accepted that if the UK goes into recession due to Brexit, the EU will quickly follow.
Many haven't recovered from the last one yet.

I have Hotelier friends in Malta who are very worried
