It makes you wonder

Unread post by Whynd1 »

Our son telephoned early this afternoon, he works in Swansea .
The centre of the city was shut down due to a suspicious package being found.
Apparently the person who was arrested left this package under a bench in the bus station shouting I've got a bomb.
Most of the centre was evacuated and they all stood in the heat for over two and half hours until the bomb squad arrived and dealt with things.
The staff in the local Tesco store gave out free bottles of water to everyone.

To think I was more worried about our daughter who works for a bank in London and he comes home having suffered a bomb alert.

I know how lucky we all are to have our friends and family safe at this time.

A made up parcel with somewhere hanging out of it apparently.
Interesting enough hours son works with na lady whose son is in the bomb squad and he was one of the first to enter the Manchester arena on Monday night.
Enough said.

My daughter was in the area when the 2005 bombs went off- her office was the only one not evacuated for some reason.

I think you have to be pragmatic and say, "if your name's on it, you've had it"

But today has been very difficult even so

Sadly this is a sign of the times - but I know what I would do with this idiot, Oh sorry I suspect the police will have already done it!

I once knew a chap who was in the bomb squad. He always used to tell me, if you see me running, you run too!!!
There will always be those who think it's funny to play bomb pranks. In the current climate I'm afraid I don't find them funny. Little do they realise they could get arrested as a consequence.

I would have liked to think arrest would be automatic followed by an appearance in front of a judge who would request a phsycological profile and dish out a custodial sentence as an example to other idiots that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. Let the person see how funny their prank was then.

But then this is Britains we're talking about, so more likely, a slap on the wrist, don't do it again and be on your way.

Indeed. I reckon we're far too lenient in this country compared to our neighbours in Europe, for example. There's always an excuse.
