Checking Receipts
I didn't use to check supermarket receipts but about 3 weeks ago I was overcharged for 3 bottles of wine. Some time ago MOB recommended Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc which retails between £8 to £9 per bottle at full price but we only ever buy it when it is on offer at £6.75 per bottle. I didn't look at the receipt until I got home and was surprised to see we had been charged the full price of £9 per bottle and no deduction at the bottom of the receipt. So back to the shop to reclaim £6.75.
Last Sunday in a different supermarket we had the choice of a black Bosch electric kettle at £33 or the same model in cream at £30 so we opted for the cream one. It came up on the till at £33 so had wait while a member of staff went and checked the correct price and confirmed it was £30.
Today, I spotted Fairy Liquid 780 ml normally £2 each on offer for 2 at £3 so I bought two. At home, check the receipt both charged at £2 each and no reduction of £1 off.
I know in the scheme of things this seems a minor nuisance and luckily we live near the town so I can pop back again to the shops to query it but it makes you wonder just how often it happens and how many elderly people, particularly those on low incomes, are being overcharged and not realising it.

Re: Checking Receipts
All the time.
Other things that I have noticed is putting the "offer" label under a different product so you think you are getting an offer when you're not and leaving the "offer" label on when the offer has finished.

Re: Checking Receipts
Only yesterday in Tesco the Carling lager notice said £10 At the till it came up as £12.
Off to customer services, apparently the offer had finished the day before
Refunded me the £2 difference and because it was their mistake you get the difference refunded again.

Re: Checking Receipts
I still buy Brancott's SB, love it
However I usually buy it by the caseload and always Online to save Mobietta having to carry it ... if I do buy wine in store I always ask the cashier to advise the price that has been charged. He / she does a sub-total to ensure all is well.
Other than wine I check the receipt some time after getting home, if there is an error they ( usually Sainsbugs, just ask that I bring the receipt in with me next time we go shopping and a full refund will be given.

Re: Checking Receipts
Nearly always check the receipt while in store. Morrisons are the worst for getting pricing wrong, especially on wine.

Re: Checking Receipts
No need to check receipts if you "self scan" - you can check the prices there and then!

Re: Checking Receipts
Morrisons haven't' caught up with that technology yet, not our store anyway.

That's the one that had the wine price wrong. Luckily, there had been a big sign up so I was able to walk the staff member straight to it to prove my point.Stephen wrote: 01 Jun 2017, 16:22Morrisons are the worst for getting pricing wrong, especially on wine.
