Graden strimmer/lawn edger.

Has anyone any recommendations about which non petrol and cordless, strimmer and lawn edger they have found to be good?

I almost bought the Bosch as I already have the Bosch cordless hedge trimmer, which I find just great, and, with interchangeable batteries, that would have been a plus. Then I saw the reviews!!!! Apparently the blades are rather useless and also expensive.

Meanwhile the G tech had good reviews and free blades for life, BUT, I can't try out a G Tech as I think they are only available to order on line?

Off to find out if G Tech have a money back guarantee if it doesn't live up to the hype of the TV ads.

About 5 years ago Julie bought a MacAllister MG18 18V cordless one from B&Q and seems to really like it. They were on offer just before Christmas at £28 (about half price) so she bought a spare one ... we have recently had to start using the new one though ... because I was tidying the garage and dropped her original one and it bent the part that you clip the blades onto so we could not get new blades on it ... naturally I tried to fix it and after about 15 minutes of careful manipulation with a pair of snub nosed pliers I ended up taking a 5lb sledge hammer to it.

That sounds like the petrol one that we have, and, having spent the best part, with repairs on it last year, of buying a new one as it refused to start yesterday, it was bound for the tip!!!

We've had a Black & Decker cordless jobbie for a couple of years and found it to be really good

I / we had a purpose built attachment that fitted onto the side of a Bosch electric mower which was completely useless ... plus a B&D strimmer which did two things extremely well - it coated my trouser legs in green slime and the cord broke every couple of minutes.

Absolute waste of time as far as we were concerned and neither were as efficient as sharply honed Wilkinson lawn edgers.

No idea about the strimmer but I know several people who have other G Tech products and they speak very highly of them.

She was a guard on the railways during the war so I am sure she picked up a lot of her dirty habits there !
