Re: General Election - 8th June
We agree on something! In my very humble opinion; Laura Keunsberg is so obviously biased that she should never be allowed to be Chief Political Editor of the BBC. If all this political mess results in a wishy washy Brexit it is going to be no good for either side of the argument as far as I can see.

I think the appointment of Michael Gove to minister for environment is a very good move by Theresa May. He is undoubtedly a clever man who thinks on his feet and is most eloquent in his delivery.
When you consider 40% of the entire EU Buget is spent on the environment, food, and rural affairs we are going to need someone of his calibre to oversee our side of the negotiations.
Theresa will just need to keep him away from the kitchen utensils when her back is turned.

But he's right. It is an amazing response from the public, giving an increased share of the vote to the Tories after their bungled campaign. And it is pretty clear who won the election. The Tories!

After every election winners and losers alike tell us how well they did.
In this case the biggest winner is the EU and the biggest loser is the British public.

Only time will tell on that point Ken, but it certainly was not the election result that Theresa was hoping for.Kendhni wrote: 14 Jun 2017, 20:35After every election winners and losers alike tell us how well they did.

And the renewed mutterings from Philip Hammond show just why she wanted that bigger majority.
I didn't like Ozzie but Hammond is getting on my pip now.

Well. they have finally announced an "agreement" between the Conservatives and DUP
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-4 ... ce=twitter
Hardly "breaking news" not any surprise as the DUP are essentially Tories in disguise and can push their local self-interest

Some Leftie on Twaddle just commented "The photo looks like two pairs of proud parents observing the register signing a gay wedding" - he does have a point, though !!

But he's the Prime Minister in waiting. It just looks like he will have to wait a bit longer.

Re: General Election - 8th June
Personally I think the Conservatives will do what they always do and start infighting which will bring down the government (Labour are no different). That will leave a possibility for Corbyn to form a minority government and totally screw up the economy ... again (he will be quick to give hand outs but very slow to tell people they will be paying them back for years to come).
The interesting thing is that I am sure his good friend Gerry Adams will immediately scurry to the demands table and Corbyn will cave in a like a deck of cards made out of tissue paper - exactly as he would do during negotiations with the EU.

Personally i dont care what the price is, so long as it keeps Corbyn & Co out of Downing St.

Labour's 'alliances' would have cost a heck of a lot more - in more ways than one.

I loved the threat from a DUP MP in response to Jezzer and co's whingeing to release emails from Labour to the DUP in 2010 and 2015.
