Perhaps if the Fox'es Manager, for example, showed as much passion for ' The Team ' then the players would follow suit ... ala Olly or Jose etc ?

It is nought but Theatre and superb Man Mangement skills, he has always demonstrated to his teams that they are ' victims ' and, no way Hose, am I a ManU supporter .. but credit where credit is due.

Undeniably he is an excellent manager with outstanding man management and motivational skills. However the hypocrisy of his 'victim' mentality is an aspect I find irritating in the modern game.

Not sure I agree with your examples of Olly and Jose as passionate managers. Now Paolo di Canio - there was a passionate manager.

RIP Peter Reeves who has just died at the age of 80.
You may not have heard of him but he was a Football League referee in the 70's. In 1978, he refereed the FA Charity Shield between Forest and Ipswich. The following year, Reeves was in charge of the League Cup final, which saw Forest defeat Lawrie McMenemy's Southampton 3-2.

The reason I mention him is I remember him refereeing a match I was playing in and what a difference a high class referee made to the whole game. He talked to the players all the way through the match, commenting on incidents and kept the game flowing. I couldn't believe the difference a referee could make and even after all these years I still remember that memorable afternoon. God Bless You Peter.

Mr Foxy

Totally agree with you last post

Though Soton were a much better side than Forest, but not on that day

Me thinks that Lawrie McMennemy is the "antidote" to Sir Alex

Enjoy your day

I'll be watching the rugby then Paul. :)

Tough away game for the Terriers today....Leeds, local derby at 12ish. Not on telly either, so we're off shopping to Cheshire Oaks near Ellesmere Port. Wonder if I'll bump into anyone interesting?

To be honest, we let them off lightly. Should have been 6 or 7 to us. Almost worth the price of my season tickets. Time for a celebratory bottle of ale perhaps.

Did I mention that we beat Dirty Leeds yesterday? :D

Unfortunately, many other results at the bottom didn't help much. :(

I can't blame the pitch or even the ref this week ... we were ' Hassled ' out of it as the Tykes were fighting for their very survival in this league.

Well done Barnsley :P

The new Bahrain based owners of Leeds United have put the club up for sale only three months after their very protracted purchase. They started negotiations with Ken Bates in May 2012 and the deal was finally done on 21 December 2012 at £21m. Rumours abounded that they did not have the finance, suported by the lack of activity in the transfer window, and they are now trying to offload the club for £7m more than their purchase price.
So a further period of instability ensues.
I Russian billionaire would be welcome as I don't see any local buyout group being able to put in the investment needed to get the club of the doldrums and back in the Premiership.
