A Sign of the Times ?

Unread post by Kenmo1 »

Today is my birthday but this year no birthday card from P&O. Instead, I get an email addressed to Unclassified + surname wishing me a happy birthday. With a first name like Maureen is there some doubt about my gender and so have they written unclassified instead in order to be on the safe side. With all the bookings we have made with P&O they must surely know I am a lady (well I think I am even if no one else thinks so).

Princess, with whom we have only ever sailed twice, also sent a e-card and it was very nice and colourful and addressed to me with my first name.

Sorry P&O but a heading saying 'Wishing you many happy returns Unclassified B.....' just doesn't do it for me. :o

Maureen (also known as Unclassified).

If I was to ever be accused of being cynical I would say that there IT is playing up - yet again!

You should never ask a Lady her age but I can tell you that next year it will have a nought on the end and it will most definitely be classified information then.

Thanks for the birthday greetings everyone.

My birthday happened to fall whilst we were on board this year. Not planned, just coincidence and no fuss with singing waiters or cakes but, without any prompting, I received a birthday card personally signed by the captain - and the cabin steward (who was "excellent" by the way) affixed three balloons to the outside of our door. Others who celebrated birthdays on the ship received the same treatment.

I had my birthday while we were on Aurora last December - the first time I've been on a cruise during my birthday while John has celebrated several in the Caribbean. I had a card from the Captain and a plate of chocolate truffles delivered to the cabin which I thought was really nice.

Definitely a nice touch. I'd certainly prefer the choccies to the balloons !
