where have they all gone ?
The humble wasp that is. The plums are ripe, the apples not far behind, you can sit and eat outside and still no wasp to be seen. Are they late or having a bad year. It,s been nice not having to flap them away like a mad man, but where are they?
On the down side, maybe because of the wet and hot summer, others are coming in great numbers, the midges are treating me as Sunday dinner, the last few years I have not been bit and almost forgot what it is to itch like crazy.
How has your summer been?
Ray

After last night there is one less wasp that I know off - the little fecker would not clear off as we had a barbecue so it got the raw end of a newspaper and my foot

Not so many wasps but zillions of bees, they just seem to love lavender ... plus lots of ant hills.
Keep smiling, it's good for your well being

Agree, not many wasps about this year. But, as soon as a glass of wine appears Mr waspy seems to appear from know where.
As for bees, the more the merrier. Love seeing them around the flowers.
I think I've only been bitten by mozzies once this year, and that was at the beginning of the spring when they are most active. You watch, I'll go and get bitten by one of the little bu99ers now I've said that.

We had a dragon fly in our summerhouse recently, shame I didn't have a chance to try and photograph it.

They were all in my bathroom extractor fan vent! The nest is dead now, so that's why you are not seeing many

The little blighters have plagued me today - took dog for a walk - they came with me - went to a funeral - there they were again - sat in garden - kept me company - not happy
