Hell hath no fury............
like a woman scorned.
I see Vicky Pryce has been found guilty and rightly so. She could have refused to take the points. It's her own fault for giving the story to the press.

They deserved each other. Maybe they will share a cell together. Now that would be interesting.

If she'd owned up because she'd had a rush of conscience I'd be more sympathetic but since she appears to have only done so in revenge for her husband going off with another woman she gets none. I do think, however, that since Mr H was the instigator he should get the longer sentence, say 30 years, and, as accomplice, she should be let off with 25. But I do think the shared cell is a spiffing idea.

Methinks there was someone on the First Trial jury who was trying to be clever. The questions to the judge seemed to me to have been couched in language which suggested someone of intelligence, not someone who did not understand. Jay

Yes agree. Considering it happened all those years ago, she only went to the press over the fact that he left her. Someone asked me the other day if I would do that for my OH if he was on the point of losing his licence. The answer is - possibly. We had a situation where we were sent a speeding thingammy and neither of us could remember who was driving. After a long time, we decided it was definitely my husband, as I normally start driving and then he takes over after 2 hours. We were actually on our way to a cruise!!
Friends of ours also got a speeding fine and they really did not know who was driving so they wrote back asking if the photograph could show which of them it was. Well it didn't and they got away with no fine at all!

Well I think that the spiteful behaviour of this woman is about to come and bite her on the behind!
It would make interesting viewing if (when they are both in the dock together for sentencing) she got a longer sentence than him (or if he got a suspended sentence).
What a silly woman - they were both working and earning good salaries etc., now they will both have criminal records behind them, and they will have inevitably lost friends and family connections through this business.
The bit which annoys me though, is that by taking the points which should have gone on his licence she allowed an unsafe driver to still be driving - and that could have cost lives. For that and that alone I hope they throw the book at her. She should have said 'no' at the time.
Oh well, I suppose by next weekend it'll just be someone's chip wrapping.

Hang on a minute, what about him! Huhne is the faithless git that wrecked the marriage and the one that asked her to take the points for him. Would none of you want a bit of revenge after being so badly treated? IMO it's just a shame that she's stitched herself up too.

Hi Hezza,
I don't know about the ins and outs of the marrige itself, or whose fault (what a bad word) it was that the marriage broke up - but what a stupid woman to shoot herself in the foot!

It was his fault obviously. Firstly, he's a man and secondly he had the affair with a bit of younger totty, not her. I'm sorry she shot herself in the foot but can understand why she did it. Remember the woman who gave away her cheating husband's priceless wine collection? Everyone laughed at that.

Hi Hezza,
Not being argumentative, but simply wondering - if Vicki Pryce had been having spitefull tantrums throughout the marriage or had simply neglected to work at the marriage, would you still say that the breakdown of the marriage was his fault?
I'm not interested in the rights and wrongs of why the marriage broke down; I think that any marriage breaking down is a sad thing indeed - but in this case firstly VP broke the law by agreeing to take the points, knowing that so doing would enable a bad driver to stay behind the wheel. Ok, he shouldn't have asked in the first place - it's a difficult situation this one.
It's quite disturbing that people in positions of 'trust' should behave like this in public.

Ah Bozza you old Victorian! Vicky Pryce is a grown woman, tantrums - spiteful or otherwise are usually seen in childhood. Can men have tantrums do you think or are they just moody and magnificent? He had the affair thus he ended the marriage, thus she slightly peeved, geddit?
Oh and Lioness, going to the press, whilst a bit stupid, isn't actually a crime and don't get on your high horse as you've admittedyou'd break the law if your husband needed you to. Honestly, you two, Germaine Greer would have you tarred and feathered

Hi HK - don't think I said going to the press was a crime, just that it was bloody stupid. Did she really think they would find her not guilty just because she was coerced? I see in the press today that it is now going to be ruled out as an excuse as it doesn't fit our new gender equality. ie only a woman can say that her husband coerced her.
if I had taken points for my husband, I certainly would not be telling anyone about it. If you do, you both end up in jail!!

Exactly! LOL - the only reason they are both going to jail is that she wanted to hurt him for leaving her.

So Lioness, you are happy to see this woman go to prison for doing something you would merrily do yourself as you consider her intellectually inferior to yourself as she spoke to the papers? isn't that a little tiny bit morally bankrupt?

Oh for goodness sake. I said I would consider doing it for my husband. consider being the operative word. We were actually caught in a speed trap and it took us a while to work out who was driving. In fact, had it been half an hour earlier, I think we would have had trouble knowing who was driving.
This all happened in 2003 - why would she suddenly decide to go to press in 2012? Why the hell didn't she do it sooner. She only did it because he left her! Gimme a break! Where did I say she was intellectually inferior to me. In fact - she is a senior economist so probably has an extremely fine brain. She just made a silly decision. If you are going to break the law, keep quiet, otherwise, say no!

Too right she was found guilty. Marital coercion?
I went to the bank wearing a balaklava and wielding a shotgun, because hubby told me to... Of course that make it alright...not.
I do feel a bit of sympathy for VP, but at the end of the day she has condoned, aided, abetted etc. She has had to come up with a damage limitation plan, which has now failed. Will be interesting to see what mitigation she puts forward. Makes you wonder what else she and ex-hubby got up to.

Hiya Hezza,
Me - a victorian???? No - you can talk about my boots all you like, but the corsets ..... used to be a secret!!!
Oh well, it's out now then (as the actress said to the bishop) - but I can't help but wonder (in a Taming of the Shrew sort of way) if Mr Huhne had an affair because Vicki Pryce was a dissapointment as a wife and she failed to work at her marriage?
Whatever, but she was foolish to involve the press.
Boots, kippers and corsets then!

Hi Meg,
Sorry if I offended you, but I just can't get it out of my head that just maybe it's not always the husband's fault.
However, everyone is entitlted to their view point, and I'm happy that you go along with your point of view - but (we knew that there was going to be a 'but') inasmuch as some employers shy away from employing people who have been 'trouble makers' in a previous job, will future suitors shy away from Vicki Pryce after the situaiton which has arisen due to her 'going to the press'?
Will she eventually (whether she admits it or not) regret the whole affair (sorry about the use of that word) more than she currently does?
The whole thing is a bit tawdry and a huge shame.

Sorry Lioness, there is so much moral indignation in the first paragraph that I can't for the life of me work out which one of you was driving.lioness wrote:Oh for goodness sake. Of course she only did it because he left her, no one doubts that! Are you American? You implied that you weren't as stupid as her by saying that when you break the law and take speeding points for your husband at some point in the future you won't be caught as you won't tell anyone - let's hope he doesn't leave you for a younger model or you may have a change of heart
Bozza, have you been reading the Koran by any chance?

Re: Hell hath no fury............
Unfortunately when anyone is hurt badly by someone they love or had love, being rational is not something that comes to mind. Everyone reacts differently to how they do their jobs in relation to their emotional personal lives. Which is why highly intelligent people do stupid things.
VP will no doubt regret what she did but for her it will not go away as it is now firmly in the public domain and no longer a personal part of her life.
Yes he did wrong to have the affair, yes he was wrong to ask her to take the points and yes she was very wrong to take them, and out of sheer bl***y mindless she went to the press which once that roller coaster flew there was no way to get off. There is an old saying don't get mad get even...
I hope they think long and hard and learn from this whole sorry saga as there are no winners in this just very sad losers.
