In another 'you couldn't make it up' story our shambles of a club has now parted coming with the caretaker manager, bought I to replace the recently sacked manager.
Will the guy on the bench Saturday at Peterborough be the Caretaker Caretaker ?
What next .......... ?

Our manager is skating on thin ice at the moment. I think he has been taking tactical advice from Southgate cos the football is no better. Looks like Mob's lot have a good motivator.

Marco is doing a grand job, even Deeney is smiling ear to ear and he's yet to complete a game this season

What was I saying about teams which score in the last minute RB?
Nice to see one of the smaller clubs mixing it with the big boys with the big bucks!!

A defeat in the image of the manager.
Sooner or later the same old same old becomes the norm.

Well that was an exciting match - not!!!
Can't wait to play Man City and go into the record books as the first team to lose 16-0.
My lot looked absolutely clueless going forward as if they had never played together before. How can you turn a team which played with so much passion into a lacklustre bunch of expensive individuals? Why does a goalkeeper line up a wall for a free kick 30 metres out and then stand behind them so he can't see the ball? What a shambles!!!

I agree Foxy - it was a bit of a stinker wasn't it.
Welcome to my world
We had an unexpected win Saturday and I've figured it out.
The solution to success is to change the manager every game for the 'new manager' impetus.
I am aware that The Hornets have already tried this but it does seem to work.

You're lucky qb. I wasted two hours of my life on that rubbish. Thankfully I wasn't paying to watch it.

Re: Football Thread 2017/18
Last nights game was a bit of a surprise for Gills fans.
We were playing table topping Wigan and to be honest, we really should have won it.
Wigan started like a steam train but Gills rode it out and slowly got more into the game.
We bossed the final 15 mins of the first half and continued so after the break.
At one nil up we should really have made it two or three.
We missed a couple of sitters.
As expected, Wigan pushed on near the end and equalised with a 25 yard stunner in the 85th minute.
Driving over, I said I'd be chuffed with a point but driving home, it felt like a defeat, not a draw.
Northampton on Saturday.
Bring it on.

Well I think todays result at the John Smiths surprised everyone, I imagine the satisfied smile will take a few days to wear off. Now how many more points do we need for safety?

Incredible resuilt. Well done the Terriers!!!
Watford looked set for a shock result but let Chelski back in.
We played a lot better than before but Swansea looked a poor side. At least we looked like we wanted to win!!

The terriers result must have surprised Jose even more than it did me
As for the Orms ... Chelsea's first goal came from a corner that should have been a goal kick and then at 2:1 to us we missed 3 sitters taking it theoretically to 5:1 but the Gods decreed otherwise and so we lost

Re: Football Thread 2017/18
Watford tend to get the pee taken out of them on here and by the Sporting Press plus the TV pundits etc for their perceived RoRo approach to their Managers. I have tried to explain in the past, on here, that it is actually an integral part of their plan to progress. An interesting-ish read in the link below and a very good explanation of their approach ... or so I thought.

Re: Football Thread 2017/18
I don't get too upset (OK not upset at all) when managers get the chop. If I took my organisation into a position where they were likely to lose millions I wouldn't be surprised if they gave me the jolly old heave-ho. The blow would be very much softened by the prospect of thousands of pounds in compensation which would enable me to take a break from the stress, do a bit of TV punditry and think what I might like to do next.
It must be a hard life being a sacked manager.

Re: Football Thread 2017/18
Claude Puel it is then.
I must admit I know very little about him apart from the fact he was once manager of Southampton. Having watched our second string play Leeds in the League Cup the other night I am hoping he clears out some of the old guard and starts making use of some of the expensive signings who have been warming the bench this season and wondering just what they needed to do to get into a team which looked tired and clueless.
Whatever anybody says I will reserve judgement until I have seen what he can produce. Just look at what the nay-sayers said about the appointment of Ranieri...................

Re: Football Thread 2017/18
Poo-elle's brand of footy at Southampton wasn't regarded by their fans as being particularly interesting I recall, he allegedly made Tony Pulis look really innovative.
However, with or without Mahres come the January window, I do hope that it all works out OK.
