Im missing my mam too..who is no longer with us. xxxxx
That is hard to bear.

But my DIL (whose twins are due very soon) is missing her mam in a very different way.
She posted this....

She's still my mother, who's standing there. It's still her eyes, her face, her hair. It's still her body, but it's just a shell, of the mother that I once knew so well.

She's still my mother, who looks at me, then asks the question, "Who might you be?"

Her memory's fleeting, her gait is weak. Loved ones long gone are those she seeks. She's still my mother...I know it's true. But there's something now I need to do.

I need patience, wisdom, and lots of love, and maybe help from up above - to let me return...if even through the tears, the love she gave me through all these years.

Whether or not she thinks I'm her brother, I'll love her yet...she's still my mother. xxxxxx

Nics mam has Alzeimers, Nic is only 28 and her mam 61.

Mothers are precious..love them whilst you have them. xxxx

Well I got up early and decided to give Julie breakfast in bed ... unfortunately that went a bit too literally ... as I was handing her the tray buffy decided to leap up and say hello and knocked the tray out of my hands ... suffice to say Julie has some additional washing and ironing to do :-(

But I am making dinner tonight so hopefully that will go better.

For my own part I just need to keep a low profile for Mother's Day - maybe next year I'll feel a bit more like it, but to all us Mums - hope you have a lovely special day.

Em :) :)

I am so lucky as my mum, although very elderly and frail, is still as sharp as a tack. Yesterday I went to see Sir David Attenborough open a museum and managed to obtain his autograph on my Mother's Day present - his Life On Air CD set. He is mum's hero so you can imagine how thrilled she was this morning.
Mother's are so precious. We must care for and cherish them.

I am spending the day mainly alone today, as daughter no 1 came yesterday, daughter no 2 lives 200 miles away in London and son lives in Saigon :( And my husband is working at the Hospice today. Mum is at my sister's.

So a quiet day here, although I have spoken to everyone except daughter no 2 who is out running in training for her marathon in a few weeks. She will ring later.

I've just had a really lovely surprise. Knowing that our daughter is a really busy person and working hard etc I was really happy with the lovely token we received for several visits to Bettys during our recent trip to Yorkshire - but then I had a lovely bouquet of roses which she drove over and delivered to me this morning - so all in all I have been right royally spoiled.

The roses will fade I suppose by next weekend - but I'll still be doing exercise to work off the effects of wonderful fabulous Bettys for a few weeks more!

By gum Yorkshire is soooooo lucky to have Bettys!

Em  :D

I miss my Mum too - she was absolutely marvellous. We always used to ring her when we were away somewhere - now there's nobody to worry about me :-(

Take care of you Mum's if you still have them

Second year without my mum and I am missing her dreadfully today. I have two children and three grandchildren who I know love me but your mum is so special, as is her love. Look after your mums if you still have them, and if they have gone, cherish your memories of them.

I have had a lovely day with a phone call from our son who lives in Devon this morning, then we visited our son and DIL and granddaughters this afternoon. Our son made a wonderful lunch and I got some lovely flowers. I have been thinking about my mum most of the day. I so wish she was still here with us and miss speaking to her so much.
