Re: The Children's Off Topic Thread
Pleasant surprise today, we just received a cheque for a small balance on an old forgotten account. Not totally forgotten but it had changed names a few times in the intervening years, but I was reasonably certain that it had been emptied several years ago. But anyway the cheque will be paid in before they realise their error and should enable us to have a couple of cocktails on our next cruise.

Re: The Children's Off Topic Thread
We got a cheque from P&O yesterday for a refund of minibar charge in the cabin that we did NOT use. Seems to be happening quite often.
We always have the minibar removed from the fridge when we arrive.
One evening when we were going to dinner the cabin steward stopped us to say they had made a mistake and put our cabin number on the charge for drinks instead of the next door cabin but she had informed the manager to get it changed. We forgot about it until I checked our balance when we got home then I phoned (using the free number) and got a refund
That was while on Ventura.

It always annoys me that they use YOUR cabin fridge to promote their products. It was the same Celebrity. We just take most of it out and store on the desk top. Otherwise how am we supposed to keep all our wine chilled

We're sociable types. Yeah strange but true. And prefer to drink in the bars with other passengers.. So we like to use our fridge for chilling water.

The stuffed full fridge really annoys me. First time, I asked Reception to have it taken away but they said to tell the cabin steward. He said he wasn't allowed to take it out of the cabin but we could store it in his plastic box under the bed where the spare crockery and bed linen goes - which is what we now do each time.

So are we Merv. But we also like a glass of wine on the balcony, and as you mention store bottled water in the fridge.Mervyn and Trish wrote: 09 Nov 2017, 08:10We're sociable types. I do wonder how much of that stuff in the fridge they actually sell and whether it is all worthwhile as it seems to annoy more people than it pleases. Has anyone heard anybody say "isn't that minibar great" ?!

Very little I would think going by the extortionate prices they charge.qbman1 wrote: 09 Nov 2017, 10:54I do wonder how much of that stuff in the fridge they actually sell and whether it is all worthwhile as it seems to annoy more people than it pleases. I wonder if the cabin steward ever checks use by dates on things like the mini tubs of Pringles and chocolate bars.

Sad to see Carluccio pop off - RIP
Mind you, I don't think it was a fall or his great age that did for him but having a bit of totty nearly 30 years younger - fair play to the man !

Re: The Children's Off Topic Thread
One of the perennial debates on one of the P&O FB groups at the moment.
Early or late booking? And the usual arguments.
Just one oddity. Someone arguing strongly for late booking says she lost out when she booked early. By which she apparently means booking in July for November. To my mind that's just about the worst time to book. Too late by far for the early offers. And too early for the late bargains. Probably just about the peak price.
BTW the one we booked when they went on sale this year for May 2019 has already gone up by 10%.

The BBC couldn't forecast a pi** up in a brewery let alone the weather.

Technically that would be the Met Office! Just saying.....Stephen wrote: 10 Nov 2017, 09:45The BBC couldn't forecast a pi** up in a brewery let alone the weather.
But someone once told me that if you say today's weather will be the same as yesterday's you'd be right two thirds of the time. That's better than most forecasts! (Though a bit like a broken watch being right twice a day!)
