Re: Happy Birthday
Thank you very much. I had a wonderful day. Firstly I had a present from John which he chose and bought himself - practically unknown! Then my two daughters took me to a lovely country pub in the Meon Valley, which had a log fire and we had a snack lunch, as I was going out in the evening. They too bought me a lovely present, something I'd never have bought myself - a vanity case which had a lot of the brand of makeup I use inside. Then in the evening John and I went out to a branch of Bar and Block near us which serves fantastic steaks. So, yes, it was a lovely day.

Re: Happy Birthday
Thank you Mavis, it feels a bit like that. One of our daughters has moved from living next door to us - part of the family business - and is now living in a lovely village 20 minutes away. She's done what I always wanted to do - move away from the business - there's still time! We are going to her on Christmas Eve until Boxing Day, a completely new departure for us so I don't have to worry about all the cooking - mind you I seem to be shopping for most of it! Then we go on our 65 night cruise in January and, coincidentally it is our Ruby Wedding Anniversary while we are away. John will tell you that's why he suggested going on this long cruise but he didn't even know about the anniversary until I told him after it was all booked, but he tells people that's why we're going! So yes, in answer to your original question, the celebration will continue until after Christmas.
The new alcohol policy doesn't start until February 1st so we'll be able to take a few bottles of fizz with us, in addition to the Pimms we usually take; we find it's a pleasant drink in warmer climes. Thank you again for your good wishes.
