Weekend away
Morning all
Well my husband has been back to the doctors and has been referred to a neurologist for his trapped ulna nerve.
I am leaving him, our son who is helping out over the weekend and the dog to go away to Alvaston Hall for the weekend.
Didn't really want to cancel as my travel insurance doesn't cover anything less than three nights.
So it's off to celebrate my birthday with friends.
Then it's only 6 weeks till Oriana to the Canaries.
One again son will be on duty to help out as this ulna nerve thing is no joke, painful and very restrictive.
Have a good weekend all

Have a lovely time at Alvaston Hall. We were there in November and really enjoyed it.

Re: Weekend away
Hope the weekend break is going well despite the weather, Lindsey.
We joined the Warners Bembridge Coast Leisure Centre recently to go swimming and get some exercise and we can go to some of the shows. Last night was the New Jersey Boys and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Firstly a chap called Country Joe came on and he had a really good voice and loads of people got up and joined in the line dancing. Then the New Jersey Boys came on. They did 1 hour 40 minutes, far more time than the acts on PO, and they were excellent and also very funny and again a lot of people were on the dance floor. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and totally changed our opinion on this type of holiday. We are going to consider some of the Warners on the mainland for short breaks in the future.
Hope your hubby feels better soon.

Re: Weekend away
Thank you all for the birthday wishes.
Good train journey back from Crewe which is the nearest train station to Alvaston hall.
A lovely weekend the weather was mixed but we managed to get out for some walks. A lot of flooding in the fields in then area .
Once again Warners have cracked it, all the older rooms have either been refurbished or late undergoing refurbishment. The rooms and especially the bathrooms are of a very high standard. Some of the lampshades have maps of the local area on them, high attention to detail. Free WiFi in all public areas and soon will be in all rooms. Fresh milk in the fridge loads of good quality biscuits, including a full bottle of wine in the room. Travel size toiletries ( temple spa brand) were replaced each day.
Entertainment is according to ones taste but this weekend was a Phil Collins tribute band which we watched for a while then went off to the lounge where their was a duo and she was a bit like a Bonnie Tyler and the room was soon full and they carried on till past midnight.
Excellent weekend and would go again as the price for a signature room bed, breakfast and evening meal at this time of year less than £300 and No Single Supplement.
