Weather

Unread post by Stephen »

Typical news, let's exaggerate and cause panic.

"Oh no all this snow, the world is going to end, what are we all to do"!

Leave it out. Looking at all the weather images around the country, I've seen more of a dusting on a Victorian sandwich.

it snowed here yesterday, but vanished by afternoon.
I was tickled yesterday morinng on rhe 8 o'clock news to hear of the chaos those few flakes had caused

The promised overnight downpour ( does snow downpour?) has just started- and it looks quite steady, but whether it stays remains to be seen.

We were threatened with 4cm last night. Nothing.

But our worst day is predicted to be Friday. We're due to have a new carpet fitted that day. Let's hope they don't use the fact that we live up a hill that's not usually gritted as an excuse not to come. It's not that far and not that big a carpet. They could walk up from the bottom with it if they remember their wellies.

Our son sent a photo from Maidstone in Kent and it was very thick snow. A good six inched on the car roof by the looks of it.
Down here in North Devon, we had a very light dusting but it's gone now.

Not to worry barney. According to the weather forecast at lunchtime it's heading your way Wednesday.

We've had similar in Rainham. It has stopped now, although more is forecast overnight. I think Devon is due to get snow Thursday to Friday, when Storm Emma meets the Beast from the East

We've got at least an inch and a quarter and not a snow plough in sight.

Yes, it's been horrendous here too. I'm currently in the process of building an igloo.......for stray worms.

Temperature is dropping like a stone, the sun is shining, the skies are blue, I have moved the landfill bin(s) closer to the pick-up point for tomorrow's collection. Also checked the fridges and freezers for survival rations ... reckon we can make it comfortably until the 11th March.

So, we're ready ... bring on the snow

Don't know where you are in Norfolk, but here (just east of Norwich) we had about 4" yesterday. There is now about a foot and it's still chucking it down.

Its very cold here but we've only had flurries although more expected in the next few days. I chuckled at your remark about survival rations - honestly you would not believe the shelves in the local supermarkets - absolutely bare - people have gone mad

Just imagine if we got the weather the USA have had recently, they'd have re-introduce ration books :D

Slightest bit of snow and everything grinds to a halt in this country. Our rubbish isn't being collected today because of the adverse weather condition. Argh, bless'm the poor little diddums don't like the snow. Bet they'd soon be round if they were offered a hefty bonus.

I wouldn't mind so much if we were under two foot of snow, but the roads are clear.

Pathetic.

I have a Sainsbury's delivery every Wednesday afternoon.....but not this Wednesday afternoon....30 minutes before it was due a Muppet rang to say that my delivery has been cancelled because of the "severe weather conditions". I live in the farthest reaches of.......London........ for God"s sake. I have clear road outside my property, the buses are running!! Cars are beetling along happily . Why the hell can't Sainsbury's do its job?!! I repeat.....i live in London not b****y Scotland. Grrr...... Can you tell how happy I am? I can't get out because of a recent foot operation.
Rant over.
Keep warm
