Rescue Underway
The rescue of the young Thai lads has started - let's all hope and pray that they all come out alive and that nobody else becomes a casualty.
As this is an international effort I am guessing that there are probably some of the best divers in the world involved and that they know what they are doing.

Re: Rescue Underway
Speaking as someone who has done an awful lot of diving, including cave diving, my heart goes out to them.
It's a very tricky thing that they are taking on, but clearly have no choice.
The most important thing is that the youngsters don't panic.
I expect that they will have full face masks as opposed to standard breathing regs, but it's still daunting.
The advice will be, close your eyes, think of home, breath slowly and regularly and leave it to the diver to drag them through.
I've dived caves where you can come up in the middle and breath air, all be it in total darkness, but in this case, would recommend that they just keep going.
I don't dive anymore, much to Mrs B's relief.

I knew Trump would sort it!
But seriously I'm glad some real experts are in charge and that so far things are going well. Fingers crossed.

Re: Rescue Underway
Shows what is possible when people work together and are organised.
I remember when I was diving, we would sometimes spend as long talking about it as the dive itself, covering all possibilities.
Good on these very brave guys.

Re: Rescue Underway
Big day today - four lads, their football coach, the doctor and three navy Seals to get out. First lad reported out
Looks as if they will not be going to the World Cup Final as they will have to stay in hospital for at least a week

No, but they must surely qualify for their PADI certificates.david63 wrote: 10 Jul 2018, 11:11Big day today - four lads, their football coach, the doctor and three navy Seals to get out. First lad reported out![]()

Just the very thought of being trapped like wot they were gives me the galloping eebie jeebies … a nice 'n' hot Red Thai Curry will certainly aid recovery … mine not theirs.
Well done the rescue team

Re: Rescue Underway
Absolutely delighted that everybody managed to get out safely tinged with sadness at the loss of the life of one of the rescuers.
A magnificent result.

Read on the news today that Dr Richard Harris (the Australian doctor that was with the lads) that his father died shortly after the rescue was complete
