Boring Topics

Unread post by Jan Rosser »

No offence to anyone but I wondered if anyone else on the forum thinks like me "oh no not again" when the Brexit topic comes up and honestly I don't know Jack Staff but he goes on a bit doesn't he  :lolno: There are others who give their opinion on the topic I know but I don't read the posts - just scroll down to the next topic - then I thought may be others find say "Last One to Post Wins" boring or silly but let's face it as least we have a laugh on that one.

Okay rant over - just wondered if anyone else feels like me - have a nice day

How funny I was just taking a quick (very quick) look at the Brexit topic. I didn't get bored because I didn't stay there for long. I didn't dare or I would have fallen asleep.

To the contrary Jan.
I very much enjoy the verbal sparring with our friend Jack.
Credit to him for sticking to his guns in the face of adversity.

Brexit is a subject that splits opinion right across the country.
Remainers were 100% correct and Leavers were 100% correct. Both sides are not for shifting.

I find it interesting.

PS, unlike Jack, I do like other posts as well, particularly ones about cruising

I am afraid I don’t bother looking at the Brexit posts. It’s all so very depressing.

Well I don't know about that it has spurred me on to join a political party and to become more active politically.

Hi Jan,

I can't say that l find the Brexit thread boring, a little tedious at times maybe but l do enjoy reading the offerings from the brexiteers... and Jack of course :)

What l do find boring is that the games section was moved from the home page....easier access would get far more using the forum imo.

As one of the main contributors to Brexit I obviously don't find it boring, frustrating sometimes but never dull.
However we do try to limit our political discussions to only 2 threads, Brexit and Current Affairs, which leaves plenty of scope for other topics.
The problem with this forum is that most members seem to be very experienced cruisers, so there are fewer requests from less experienced cruisers for advice, hence we have to find something to keep our web fingers busy; there are always the football threads if you want a diversion from Brexit. :sarcasm:

It has never moved - it is exactly where it was on day one!

I think they were taken out of the recent posts after a concern that the forum was over dominated by them which might put off new members.

My routine when logging on is to click on "Quick links" and then "Unread posts". That gives me a list of what I've not seen. Once I've viewed all that interest me I click on "Mark all read" and that clears the list until the next time. Works well for me.

Any I find boring I just ignore.

The autoposts I usually ignore unless a member has replied to them.

I'm extremely anxious about whats going to happen after Brexit, and I do not comment on the Brexit thread on this forum for a number of reasons. At least the Brexit gang now keep their comments to the Brexit thread. I've never really 'got' what the 'Last One to Post Wins' thread is, but I've never really looked.

I really like the cruise diaries and reviews, and enjoy other cruise posts.

I assume the forum is paid for these David? If correct then you can keep them in for me if its subsiding the forum, like Merv I only look at the ones that sound interesting.

An entirely fair comment Gill and a good example of someone using the forum for what interests them and ignoring the rest. As it should be in my view.

It would be impossible to have a Forum that would interest everybody / not bore the pants off others.

Bit like going to Sainsbugs … I enjoy buying or even just looking at the food and drink but would be bored rigid checking out the laundry and pet product aisles.

Brexit is interesting or at least it should be cos we are going to get some any time soon.

I totally agree. They are a nuisance and can obscure a valid posting just by the sheer number of them some days.

Very true John on all counts although you may be contributing gibberish for all I know - I just don't read the content of the Brexit posts :lolno:

It is true we are experienced cruisers but I do enjoy reading and contributing reviews of cruises - just nice to read other people's impressions of ships and cruises etc.
