Re: Question?
Sad to report today that son had his car stolen from the car park in town today where he parks for work.
A policeman turned up on our doorstep saying did aMr B live here etc.
A member of the public reported seeing the car beeing driven by someone in a motorbike helmet with the motorbike in the front of the car.
Had to contact son at work go and collect him and are now in the process of trying to sort things out.
The insurance will ring him on Friday morning with a 45 minute appointment.
In case the car is found payout will take 30 days.
He has had his longed for and saved hard for car for just under a month.
Sad isn't it a lad who is no trouble to anybody, kindhearted knows right from wrong gets stuffed like this.
You can probably tell I'm a bitupset.
The police said there a gang going round targeting these Ford Fiesta STs and they are keyless but do have immobilizers.
It's all the Hastie isn't it.

Re: Question?
That is absolutely lousy for both you and your son. No wonder you are feeling upset. I would be too.

Re: Question?
Really sorry to hear this Lindsey, the basta*ds who do this need stringing up........The punishments for these crimes nowhere come near to the amount of upset they cause, especially for good lads and lasses like your son who have to save hard to get their pride and joy..
Lindsey....hopefully the car will be found, and in the same condition before it was stolen but if it is the case that your son has to claim on his insurance be aware that they will probably offer bottom end book price....If this is the case tell your son to stick out for more......remember this will be their starting offer.
I was in your son's position 48 years ago and it still hurts when l think about it.

Re: Question?
Scum of the earth.
Don't suppose the people that saw it being driven off got the number plate reg. Also does the car park have any CCTV?
Westminster, plod are over you in seconds if you so much as f*rt, everyone else, ooow, 'there's allot of it about, bye.'
Don't forget to mention to the insurance company about the Rolex watch in the glove box.

Re: Question?
That's dreadful!
The trouble is the lowlife who stole it has probably done it times before and just gets a slap on the wrist when he gets caught because of his deprived childhood, drug problem and anything else the defence lawyers manage to dream up. It's time we woke up and smelt the coffee and dealt with these scumbags properly. A slap on the wrist and another tick on your criminal record means nothing to them considering the upset and anguish it causes to their victims, relatives and friends.

Re: Question?
Council owned car park, we rang through to check yesterday no CCTV.
Just been checking the book price for the car as he is only had it four weeks and he did a trade in and paid cash, so at least he is not paying on the never never.
He will loose out financially, just paid for a years road tax.
He had been wanting this car for a long time and debated whether he should buy it or keep his money in the bank and it was me who said to him, life's too short get it if you really want it.
So have to play the waiting game today, the insurance theft team are ringing tomorrow, you are given an appointment time and the first available slot is 9 am. Time off work tomorrow to sort this out as well.
Debating now if should get a hire car for a few weeks as my husband and I manage with just one car. So don't have a spare to offer him.
I'll let you you know how things go.

Re: Question?
Have you tried ringing the road tax people to get the tax cancelled? They may be able to do it as I'm sure this won't be the first case of its kind. At the very least he won't lose that money. Cold comfort I know.

Re: Question?
Should be able to cancel online. I did it easily with my previous car. Check out the link Lindsey.

Don't know if you or your son use Facebook Lindsey, but it might be worth a punt putting the car and theft details on there and see if it comes to anything. You might be lucky.

Re: Question?
Agree about Facebook although not on it myself, my Grandson got his motorbike back through family posting on there. Sorry to hear about the theft, I know how upset my Grandson was about his bike.

Re: Question?
Just checked in with the look e no news but it was spotted yesterday on the outskirts of Swansea. Apparently two others were taken recently and found within 48 hours and one near to us the windscreen was broken but someone disturbed them before they could start then car.
When the insurance decide what to do he will be able to claim a refund of road tax.
A!so he took out a years further warranty on then car which kicks in in two months time and if the car is written off that can be refunded as well and that was £299.
He has spoken to the council car parks dept and they have graciously decided not to charge him the usual £25 admin fee so that he can take our car some days, although him not sure we want to park it there !!
Thanks to everyone for the help and kind words.

Re: Question?
Thanks Ken, interesting and informative.
I think our daughter has applied most of the suggestions suggested, however, the multi car option is something we will look at on our daughters renewal.
Regards
Keith

Re: Question?
Quick update
Son had a 30 minute telephone interrogation with Ensure.
He now has to send them by special delivery
Vehicle registration document
Insurance certificate
Both car keys
Document confirming the price paid for the vehicle
Service history record
He has also been requested to go on line and use a government website and input driving licence number and national insurance for number for himself and my husband who is a named driver.
Posted everything off so wait and see what the next step is now.
Have a good weekend everyone

Re: Question?
Well Lindsey it's just sit back and wait now I guess but at least there is some progress. I find the DVLA website one of the better ones to use and funnily enough had an email from them this morning telling me that they were going to action my annual direct debit for my car tax renewal next month - I thought to myself that year has gone pretty quickly

Are you sue they aren't called 'SS Ensure' Lindsey. I'm surprised they didn't want a video of him under intense lighting while they interrogated him.
Hope it all gets sorted soon
