Missing Members
Noticed that today is ITWA Travel Writer's birthday but he hasn't actually posted for over two years. I know he wasn't in the best of health but it got me thinking of those members who used to be pretty active but now we no longer hear from. Sadly we have lost some - Silver Shiney (Alan) played a big part in this forum - miss his witty responses but there are others who no longer post - when QB retired from work he appears to have "retired" from us sadly and what about Raybosailor. Has anyone heard anything from these and other past contributors?

Re: Missing Members
I was wondering only the other day what had happened to Melsea who used to post such informative lovely reports of her world cruises.

Re: Missing Members
Reasons for missing members will be many and varied. Only they will know their reasons for not posting any longer. However I have a hunch there are many members who do not post for whatever reasons they may have but who drop in to read the comments of the rest of us.
Jan and Lindsey are right though. There are some who used to be regular posters and you do wonder where they are and are they alright.

Hi Jan,
Who knows Jan...however l suspect some lose interest because there isn't enough general topics to discuss theses days. ...l was thinking about starting some rumours about Stephen to get people posting but thought better of it as he knows more about me than l know about him
I think general topics allow people to dip their toe into things...l also think the games section should have a permanent place at the top of the sections page.....This would make it much more visible and a great place for newcomers to get involved.
But like you say it is a shame that some of the old contributors are rarely seen these days.
Btw...you may have noticed that l was absent for about 10 months? I had a good reason though.....l died

Re: Missing Members
New members could inform they're family that they have joined this community. Management could then provide an online members book, so if you decide to leave, you or your family member can register that you've checked out.....one way or the other. It keeps things clear and you then know whether to send flowers, or not

Hi, I,ve not posted for many years, but almost daily read the reviews and comments of others. I was also wondering about other 'posters' that we never hear of anymore 1. Monicluled Mutineer 2. Admiral of the Humber 3. Darknight 4. Flora (who was always winning in the Casino) Any thoughts as to how they are. We don't cruise at the moment since I was 'medically disembarked' from Azura last December in Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. I wll explain fully on the appropiate section one day.

There are a couple of familiar names on a couple of the P&O Facebook sites which I have also joined, although I don't contribute much but I do find the sites quite useful for information if going on a specific cruise.

I'm still in touch with Darknight on Facecloth and know he definitely left the forum. I also see Cubie on Twitter. No idea why he's gone quiet though. It did coincide with his retiring from work so maybe he doesn't have time now he's a man of leisure! I think Monocled Mutineer disapproved of a forum where the Modplods were allowed to also post. Must say I disagree with him on that since the Plods do it voluntarily so why shouldn't they be allowed to play too? Not sure about Flora. Maybe she got a really big win and moved to a tax haven!

Re: Missing Members
It's an interesting one about mods posting on the forum. David did give us the option and we chose to be totally open and upfront otherwise we could have stepped back from posting as mods but had a second account where we could post our opinions freely and as openly as we wanted. Trouble is we can't always say exactly what we want.........................Well I can to Mob!!!!

Flora is a friend of a friend on Facebook and is still cruising and I agree with you Merv why shouldn't Mods have opinions on topics - we haven't got to agree with them have we

I did come across Derek Kate (Monocled Mutineer) on a Dorset website ages ago but nothing since then. Yes he didn't approve of Mods being able to post but I think it makes things much more open if they do - even if not everyone agrees with all their opinions - I usually do....creep.....creep...

Fat chance of that! I'm still here but busy travelling and working for a pittance whilst we try and sort out some sort of future for the business now that we won't be able to export any more.Jan Rosser wrote: 16 Sep 2018, 12:10Noticed that today is ITWA Travel Writer's birthday but he hasn't actually posted for over two years. For what is worth l liked the Admiral, Dark knight and the Mutineer as l thought they all brought a bit of spice to the forum. Sadly sugar and spice don't always go together on cruise/chat forums.

Oops - sorry, of course meant Derek Kane. One of my daughters is Kate so probably got so used to typing it and hit the wrong key. I wouldn't like to hurt Derek's feelings.

Re: Missing Members
Thanks for starting this thread Jan, like you there are a few I have noticed no longer post and it does make you wonder why or what has happened to them, some of those mentioned I do know are still around and posting elsewhere.
I am no longer a prolific poster on here but then I don't really post much anywhere these days through choice, I got rather fed up of 3/4 posters on here who imo thought the forum belonged to them and it didn't matter what people posted they were ignored so probably like me others thought why bother !!
I think that was a real shame because David started this forum and worked hard with his admin team so it wouldn't become cliquey but then as members disappeared they had their platform and were seen as those keeping the forum going, just my opinion of course but initially I saw the the forum as having the potential to be bigger and better than the old P&O forum but sadly that hasn't happened, having said that there are some lovely members and it always brings a smile to my face to read their posts.
