First Day of Spring

Unread post by Sealion »

It's the vernal equinox today (I thought it was the 21st) and it could not be more unlike Spring with more snow showers and cold wind here.
Dreadful forecast for the next five days as well. It seems such a long winter. This time last year we sat out having coffee after a walk and we all complained we were too hot!. However we had no good weather after that so perhaps there will be a reversal this year.
Is there a north south divide weatherwise or are we all suffering?

Eeee, it's tough oop norf lass !

If it's any consolation, it's not a whole lot better in Middle England - about 5 degrees, dull, misty and perishing cold

It is usually the 21st, but it's a day earlier this year.

Last year at this time we enjoyed 20 degs (though probably not in the wilds of Yorkshire it must be said).

Not nice in Southport either, lets hope it is a reversal of last year.

Every day has a golden lining for me - and today it's the fact that I can get back into the forum website.

I don't care if it's cold outside!

You know when it's cold when you stand on the end of Comer pier and it's blowing a lazy easterly wind, it goes thru you and not around you.

This year, officially, it might be the first day of Spring - it's tomorow in my book :D

A fabulous spring day here, yet another afternoon sitting in the garden with clear blue skies and if out of the wind, really very warm. My outside thermometer says 18 degrees and in the conservatory it's 23.

Travelled back from Wales on Sunday and I can tell you the snow topped hills were a site to behold...more snow predicted later for this week, so I believe.

Don’t you just love spring?

We must have got a little micro climate here on the Gower, as Sunday was lovely too!

Gill you are definitely living in a much warmer part of South Wales than me - I'm up in the Rhymney valley about 8 miles north of Caerphilly and the temperature today hardly rose above 8 degrees. I've only managed a few days in the garden this year - not to sit in - actual gardening to keep warm! On my walk this morning with the dog we were both wrapped up warm and it looks as if an umbrella is going to be needed tomorrow  Hopefully though in two weeks time I'll be enjoying better weather in the Med :D
